Title: good one for ya (and i need help badly)
Post by dani on Mar 10th, 2003, 11:24am
I am one simple word, but I mean different things
One of my meanings brings great forceful swings,
The other of me, may have curve, like the first...
But only one meaning can help quench a thirst.

help me!!!

Hmmm, I am thinking [hide]pitch or pitcher.  Pitch is the throw that brings a swing, it can be the angle of inclinition of something, which can be curved.  The last one is a bit of a stretch as pitch can mean to dunk something like a ladle, which will help you get a drink.  Pitcher is obvious for the last part and first part, but it is difficult to make it something separate for the second.[/hide]

aero_guy I think you've got the right word. I had originally gone for [hide]punch[/hide] but it falls down on the second definition. A [hide]pitcher[/hide] is a [hide]club in golf[/hide] so that could definitely be the first - [hide]a golf swing[/hide] is pretty forceful. The second is the curve of a [hide]baseball pitcher[/hide]  and the third is [hide]a pitcher of drink[/hide].

There you go, I was thinking of baseball for the first part which left me with the nine-iron definition (looked up from a dictionary) for the second which didn't make any sense.  Reversing them does though.

What about [hide] wave [/hide].  Not as good as the others, but still works reasonably well.
