How about [hide]a pair of eyeglasses? The lenses don't touch, yet they're twins, and when you look thru them it becomes one big picture.[/hide]

I saw them once. It was out in the country, I saw a train go by and ran up to watch it go off into the distance, and there they were, or a close facsimile of them.

Yeah, the puzzle is unsolvable as stated, but if she meant "far away" it becomes completely different and not too hard.
