Well, if I was a president, I'd say you were seven points of light. Ha.

You are yourself.

You are a person who "rages against the machine" by never using punctuation in your typed/written messages.  ;D

How about proceeding in this direction, i.e. towards [hide]the Pleiades[/hide]?

WOW, that's great, and makes total sense too.

Why not Ursa Major, then?

Well, Ursa Major is a whole constellation, consisting of more than seven stars (except if you meant just the asterism, the "Big Dipper"). The Pleiades, however, are one of the best-known groups of seven stars, I'd say.
(I know that there are more than seven stars in the astronomical object M45, known as Pleiades cluster, as far as I know.)

Yes, I meant just the Big Dipper. And from my perspective (based on my cultural background) I'd say that the Big Dipper is more widely known than Pleiades. A believe that a randomly chosen child will more likely be able to show the Big Dipper on the night sky, rather than the Pleiades. But, back to the riddle, could the answer be simply "an asterism"?

Gee - My answer to the question "what am I" was "too shy to give your name! ;)

Yes, that's probably true for children round here, too. Of course, it depends on their astronomical (and mythological) training/background.  ;)

If the asterisks represent letters (excluding spaces), I'll guess the "word" starts with a "W".  ;D
