Title: Some riddles
Post by Elias on May 10th, 2005, 3:57am
The strangest creature you'll ever find: Two eyes in front and many many more behind.
What kind of animal is it?

I can bring a smile to your face,
A tear to your eye,
Or even a thought to your mind.
But, I can't be seen.
What am I?

What can run but never walks, Has a mouth but never talks, Has a bed but never sleeps?
What am I?

I am as cold as death, and not breathing air.

I went to visit an old friend some days ago, he owns the kings stables in walmork.
In the shop an adventurer was thinking about buying a horse. But he could not figure out if it would be a wise desission or not.
You see, the horce would take 6 hours to take care of each day, and even if he would use it every day he thought that it might be faster to walk anyway.
you see, everyday, the buyer visits his unkle and it takes 6 Hours to go there and back. They buyer thougt he could walk about 3 Km/hour while the horce that could travel in 11 Km/hour.
How long would the trip take with the horce?
(dont forget to calculate in the maintaince time of the horse!)

Never thirsty, but ever drinking.
Covered in mail, but never clinking.
What am I?

I have a few feathers to help me fly.
I have a body and head, but I'm not alive.
It is your strength which determines how far I go.
When im along your site,
You decide who lives or die.
What am I?

-I was in walmork some days ago, and I meet this boy who was angry with his master.
He said that he had to carry atleast 1000 buckets of water to fill his masters 294 litres bathtub,
But I corrected him with the correct amount of buckets. You see, its easy to know how many he needed if you know that the bucked could carry 14 liters of whater.
How many buckets of water would he have to carry to fill the tub?

I'm not a dragon, but I can fly through the sky.
I'm not a river, but I'm full of water.
What am I?

I'm just a hole tied to more holes; I'm strong but not stronger than my weakest friend,
and offcourse not as stiff as a pole.
What am I?

I weaken all men for hours each day.
I show you strange visions while you are away.
I take you by night, by day take you back, none suffer to have me,
but do from my lack.
What am I?

Almost everyone sees me without noticing me,
For what is beyond is what he or she seeks.
What am I?

i´m really old but sometimes new, never empty, sometimes full, never pushes, always pulls.
What am I?

The more there is the less you see.
What is it?

If you have it,
you want to share it.
If you share it, you don't have it.
What can this be?

I have two arms, but fingers none. I have two feet, but cannot run. I carry well,
but I have found I carry best with my feet OFF the ground.
What am I?

This one seems too obvious to me... You could buy the horse, care for it and rent it out, and use the proceeds to buy a train ticket to visit your uncle.

This one also seems too obvious, maybe we should beat the boy for lying and gossiping about his master.

Try theese ones then:

From home to work I go, sometimes big,
sometimes smal.
I don´t care about rain or snow I always stay outside the door.
What am I?

What traps warmth, Sprays forth ice and water, Yet slips through your fingers with ease?
Could you tell me how many handshakes that where made that day in that particular barn?

-A group of 50 farmers met up with eachother some days ago.
They all shaked hands with all of the other farmers before the meeting started.
During the meeting one of those farmers started to think about how many times
they accully had been handshaking that morning but he could not figure it out.
He had shaked hands with 49 persons, but in total?
It was to mutch to think of for the poor guy.

My voice rises above the din,
Sometimes catching all unaware.
I never ask questions,
yet get many answers.
What am I?

No legs have I to dance,
No lungs have I to breathe,
No life have I to live or die
And yet I do all three.
What am I?

Brighter than the day, yet my light can go out at any time.
Sometimes I fall but never hits the ground. What am I?

A little pool with two layers of wall around it.
One white and soft and the other dark and hard, amidst a light brown grassy lawn with an outline of a green grass.
What am I?

When liquid splashes me, none seeps through. When I am moved a lot, l
iquid I spew. When I am hit, color I change. And color, I come in quite a range.
What I cover is very complex, and I am very easy to flex.
What am I?

Twigs and spheres and poles and plates,
join and bind to reason make.
What am I?

I'm really old but sometimes new, never empty, sometimes full, never pushes, always pulls.
What am I?

But he can't evict me, so here I will remain.
Then one day I'm taken and ranked among my peers. Can you guess just what I am?
Then you might call me dear.

I´m sometimes short and long,
sometimes cold and sometimes hot.
When displayed, I rarely impress.
What am I?

Just some more:

A warrior amongst the flowers, he bears a thrusting sword.
He uses his life to defend his golden hoard.
What is he?

My life is often a volume of grief,
your help is needed to turn a new leaf.
Stiff is my spine and my body is pale,
but I'm always ready to tell a tale.
What am I?

What is it that you must give before you can keep it?

-A group of 22 farmers met up with eachother some days ago. They all shaked hands with all of the other farmers before the meeting started. I turn around once.
What is out will not get in.
I turn around again.
What is in will not get out.
what am I?

I usually wear a yellow coat.
I usually have a dark head.
I make marks wherever I go.
What am I?

I dig out tiny caves, and store gold and silver in them.
I also build bridges of silver and make crowns of gold.
They are the smallest you could imagine.
Sooner or later everybody needs my help,
yet many people are afraid to let me help them.
Who am I?

I think "a promise" fits better.  You can give trust, and you can keep someone else's trust, but you don't need to give trust to keep trust.

You can't keep trust in someone if you've never given it though.

Why can't you? I think I might possibly be able to.  I mean Some people trust me even though I don' t trust then and the otehr way around. The promise thing wouldn't work either because of pretty much the same reason. At least that is what I think.  [hideb]I was thinking that it could be heart but a lot of people have a heart even though they don't give it away, methaphorically.[/hideb]

Because you can't keep something you don't have? You have to give someone trust to have trust in them. And so before you can keep trust in them.

No, what I mean is that some people trust me and others don't. Also, some of the people that trust me I don't trust and some of the people I trust don't trust me.

what am I?

[hide]Key[/hide]

I usually wear a yellow coat.
I usually have a dark head.
I make marks wherever I go.
What am I?

[hide]Pencil[/hide]

I dig out tiny caves, and store gold and silver in them.
I also build bridges of silver and make crowns of gold.
They are the smallest you could imagine.
Sooner or later everybody needs my help,
yet many people are afraid to let me help them.
Who am I?
