My graduate research focused on the role of personality traits on individuals’ coping with being targets of prejudice. Individuals with trait vulnerabilities were more likely to react to prejudice negatively, leading to increased depressive symptoms and decreased self-esteem. Currently, I am expanding my research to examine the role of personality traits in physical and mental health throughout the lifespan, especially in response to chronic life stressors such as low socioeconomic status or stigmatized group membership.
