Past announcements

Lab exercise for 3/06: For our next lab (3/6/06), we will be doing a modification of the exercise "Microevolution in Deer Mice," so please read this section of your lab manual. You do not need to read the "Molecular Evolution" lab exercise posted on the Bio 1B main page (there was a change of plans in this regard). Apologies if you've already read it.

Midterm #1 graded: Midterm #1 has been graded and will be discussed in section on Monday, March 6. Please note: You will get to look at your copy of the exam (with the questions), but will not get to keep it. You are only allowed to keep your Scantron. This is so that exam questions can be re-used in subsequent years. .

Extra office hours: The GSIs will hold extra office hours in 2013 VLSB the week of the midterm: Brian Wed 1-2, and Amber Wed 11-12 and Fri 12-1. Also remember you can go to any GSI's office hours.

Midterm #1: Midterm #1 will be on Friday, February 24, from 6:10 - 7:00 PM. Please arrive at least 10 minutes early to get seated, receive instructions, and fill out your Scantron form. The locations are:

          Section 105: 2040 VLSB
          Section 106: 10 Evans

All Bio 1B midterms are closed-book, closed-notes; you only need to bring a #2 pencil. If you will be unable to take the midterm at this time, or if you need any special accommodations, please talk to your GSI as soon as possible.

Review session for MT#1: The GSIs will hold a semi-structured review session on Tuesday, February 21, from 6:00 - 7:30 PM in our normal lab room, 2050 VLSB. Please bring questions. We'll bring snacks! If you can't make the review session, you can stop by office hours and/or pick up review handouts.

Presidents' Day: There will be no lecture, lab, discussion or office hours on Monday, February 20, because of the Presidents' Day holiday.

Library tutorial for Section 106: [Posted 1/30] In place of regular discussion, Section 106 will be having a tutorial at the Biosciences Library on Monday, February 6 from 2:10 - 3:00 PM. Please meet in the seminar room (inside the main doors to the left). Section 106 will then have a 10-minute quiz in the lab room (2005 VLSB) from 3:10 - 3:20 PM, while Section 105 has an extra 10 minutes of break. Lab will commence at 3:20 PM.
