Sony has this spycamera called the Qualia. It costs $3200. Crazy stuff.

So that last Saturday, I went into SF to do some server powerups. It is incredibly easy to get parking in the Financial District on the weekends, it's amazing. Afterwards I went to see the Incredibles. Unfortunately, even though I went early, I didn't get to go in and was instead given free admission to a movie. Line was fricken long. I watched Love Actually which is a really good Christmas movie. It had a lot of surprise cameos on top of all that British star power. I saw 2 lesbians which just turned out to be actually a guy and girl. Just a very effeminate guy. For Chris' bday, I got him the Family Guy Season 1 + 2 dvd. After the movie, it was a frantic series of calling and getting people to hot pot. I had already emailed everyone beforehand and coordinated stuff with Lori. Since I was a little late with picking up Masa, I called up Chris and had Lori stall. Chris actually called me earlier and asked me if I wanted to go to Hop Pot. I said No, I had already eaten. Hehehe. Everyone got there and Eric came as well since he hadn't had Hot Pot in a long time. Chu had problems with the directions I gave him but he got there in the end. Afterwards, we all, with the exception of Nancy who complained of a headache, and watched the infamous breastfeeding episode from Family Guy. I also got in a little Soul Calibur 2 with Masa and Chris.

This year I had multiple Thanksgiving dinners with a lot of people. I really liked the traditional dinner that Melyssa cooked with the help of Alissa and Leah. It had stuffing (which was my first time and it was REALLY good) and cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie. I don't like pumpkin pie but the turkey was excellent. Melyssa's family gets these huge turkeys but we "just" had a 10 pounder. The mashed potatoes were good too. I'm beginning to like these traditional dinners although the pork rice that I used to get at home wasn't bad either.

My arms got really sprained when moving my furniture around. Erghh...

We had a scheduled outage last week at work (which was why I went in on Saturday to power up the servers). Unfortunately, on Monday, when I came in quite a few people were saying that they had no network connectivity. Going to the server room, I noticed that one of the switches had decided to die completely. I had to reroute all those cables. Yeesh, I need to organize them better. What made it worse was the mislabelling of the office ports. I'll be glad if we move cause then I can setup the entire company the way I like it. Nice and orderly. Thankfully I was able to get everyone up and running pretty quickly.

On Wednesday, I got to leave early from work but that didn't change much in my schedule since that meant that I needed to take a bus that didn't drop me off in front of the apartment. Should have just walked around SF or went shopping.

Chris and I watched Enemy at the Gates recently on TV which is still an awesome movie. Leah really likes Jude Law. Too bad Rachel Weisz wasn't replaced by some other English hottie.

Man, it's really windy in the Bay Area. On College Ave., I recently saw this fat woman in her compact car pick her nose and hurriedly eat it when the light turned. Most disgusting thing ever. shudder

Last night I went to Todai with Aunt Jackie, Uncle Fang, and little Raymond. Coincidently, I think it's been a year since the last time I went to Todai since the last time was also with my Aunt. Maybe Lih-Chern and Jeff will like Todai. Hmm, I should ask.

I actually went in the mall earlier to return some stuff. You know how the have cars in the mall and little slips of paper to stick into boxes where you write your info on them and you hope to win that car? WELL, READ THE BACK. The car yesterday was a BMW 5 SERIES (~$48,000, yumm yumm). I read the faint print on the back of the entry ticket and what do you know? It says that the prize actually is for a $25,000 car, a $25,000 on a lease for a better car, or $15,000 cash. It's not like candy or anything but still. IT WASN"T FOR THE CAR. Looking around, I realized that there was nothing that said that the winner would get the BMW. It would read, "Win A Car!!!" not "Win This BMW!!!". Oh well, I dropped my entry in anyways, $15,000 isn't anything to sneeze at. Plus, $25,000 towards a lease on a BMW 5-series isn't bad either.

I've been feeling pretty bad about not having posted in so long. So here are some videos to help curb the sense of withdrawal you might be feeling...hahahaha.

On Friday, my boss left for a week and half in Ireland, where he's originally from. He speaks many different languages and has been all over the world except for South America and Antartica. He used to be a safari guide in Africa. Cool!!! He spent a year in Germany, a place I'd definitely like to visit again. That and Austria/Switzerland.

Better update later. Gotta catch bus.

November 21, 2003 - 07:35AM

Saturday is going to be an exciting day. First, I have to head over to work to restart all the servers and such since they're replacing some generators in the building. We MAY be translating our corporate presence by a block into a new casa. I can see it from my window. It's the big green and white building that looks really cool. Later, I'll be seeing a special showing of Pixar's new movie The Incredibles. And then to a special dinner thing at night. Good stuff.

On Wednesday, I went to the NorCal Mobile Computing SIG meeting which was held at the Microsoft SF office. It's overwhelmingly a Pocket PC user group so I fit in when I had an ipaq but now I kind of stand out with my clie. Which is fine since I think all of them were jealous of the benefits of my device. I got a poopload of free stuff as well as winning the second best prize which was a car mount for mobile devices. The first prize was a Bluetooth GPS unit, which would have been perfect for the clie but oh well...I'm still a winner. In fact my tickets were called 2 times which meant I was able to upgrade to the better model.

Here are some pictures that I took (sorry...they were taken in complete darkness when I first got it installed). The mount is supposed to be pretty secure (the guy lifted up a table with it) but when I came back in the morning it had fallen off the windshield so I'm probably going to email that VP about it. Still its a pretty cool product. Speakers are pretty good but I'll probably still use my cassette adapter. If the USB power cable works, this kit would be perfect for powering it up on the go since it has 2 USB ports as well as a DC-out.

Thursday was Maria's baby shower so we had a potluck and giftgiving. I brought a tray a California Rolls which were a great success due to the fact that none of it was left after the party. I contributed to the breast pump gift and learned many things about child birth I don't think I was ready for. The correlation between poop and childbirth is mind-boggling. There was a lot of good food including Matt's Southeast Asian food form someplace near Office Depot. I'm going to have to go there sometime and check that place out.

Maxine and Richard came into my office at one point and Maxine asked me when I was going to start going on-site. I was like,"I don't know..." She asked Richard if I was going to go and Richard said,"Oh yeah!" They all seem to not like going to these places very much. For me, it'd be great to go to Orlando and New Orleans.

Went to Eve's Hunan on college. Good food. Get the night $5 specials. Their garlic shrimp is great!

Apparently all the AC Transit bus drivers hate the 51 line. Some bus driver was talking to another bus driver about how someone transferred to that region and had to drive 6 hours on the 51 line. Must have been a big deal.

In the Underground Asian Lair, the Vietnamese pho is a bit bland. Meat isn't as good as the 99 Ranch Pho.

I wonder if there is .Net certification.

Sony has released some toys.

.NET is good. Very good. I like how all I have to do to change a site is one page. It reminds me a lot of the best of other languages (J2EE run time...) but the inclusion of panels makes editing so cool. Love the JIT compiler. Instead of 6 different ASP forms, I have only 1 ASPX. So clean. Coupled with Windows 2003, and the newest IIS everything is peachy.

Sony released a new laptop. The processor and most of the motherboard is about the size of a Mini-Disc. Everything is about the thickness of the component. Keyboard is almost paper-thin. Thing is there are huge margins. Hate that. Still though, it's pretty nice.

I went to the Jars of Clay concert last Saturday. Pretty good concert although I really went for this one cool song.

Got Finding Nemo at Costco. Love this movie. I've loved ever since I saw the storyboard version way back when. I'd love to get the Sopranos DVDs but they are way more expensive than I should be buying. At Costco, I also saw a $370 faucet. When I saw them all I instantly gravitated to it, the most expensive one, because its finish was so awesome. The metal is that kind of nice, not chrome, metal that feels really nice. I could never bring myself to spend that much on a faucet though. That's crazy home decorating.

Huge traffic accident on the Bay Bridge on Friday. Slowed to a crawl. Left earlier this morning though. I must remember that taking the loop is preferable to taking the fenced off lane.

The cleanup crews must have been fast though cause by the time we got to the scene of the accident, it had been cleared up already. Got there pretty fast.

So Chris felt better later on in the evening last week to watch Matrix with us. Jasmine and Keith came earlier so they had dinner with me at D&A. From what I could tell, they liked it alright. Afterwards, we headed back to my place and met up with Chris and Lori. Hung out for a short while and then went off. Chris had to pick up Masa and Honda first so we got there first and got seats. Actually Jasmine and Keith got seats while I waited outside for Chris and Co (I had Chris's ticket). Chris kept asking me to look for his asian friend but I never did see him until Chris called him up while in the theater. "Which asian guy?" was more like it. Movie was great on the IMAX. I hope they do this more often with big blockbusters (Return of the King?).

People started posting Naruto episodes for the clie online so I was watching them before the movie. Great anime. Must concentrate on Inuyasha though.

Can you believe that I know a girl from Hawaii who can't swim?!!! Mel (Melyssa) had also never been to Mel's till last week. Weird stuff. Me, Leah, and Mel had dinner at D&A yesterday and she even liked the stinky tofu. Her nose was stuffed up but still... For someone who doesn't like crab smells...I got cooked crab at 99 Ranch for $3.99, that's why it came up. Walnut Prawns are so good except I hate walnuts.

Last week, I tried out a bunch of different oysters from Berkeley Bowl. I said 3 of each kind and ended up with 24 oysters. Took forever to bag them in groups of three. There is definitely a difference between them. The small ones ended up tasting the best. Haven't finished all of them. Still in freezer.

.NET is good. More on that later...

Did I mention that I finished Crimson Skies? That last boss is crazy.

Oh man, Matrix: Imax was tons of fun. That was a really great night even though I didn't get back home till 4 in the morning. It's amazing how comfortable a bus headrest feels at 8 in the morning after 4 hours of sleep. Any kind of support feels great. hahaha. More on it later. I'll try typing it up on the bus.

I got into a Prius the other day. Sweet car. I kept looking at the center console checking to see how much mileage we were getting. hovered between 30 to 100 mpg. So much fun. Touchscreen too.

Shrek 2 trailer is out. Check it here.

I saw a woman with bright green pants and a brown top last week. Looked like an inverted christmas tree. hehehe

Oooh...this movie looks really interesting. Watch the trailer too. Sick stuff. Sick as in good.

20GB music/video player from Sony. Pony it up dude. There you go.

Anyone else watch Odd Todd?

I love the sushi at Sushi House. They do not cheat you on the size of the pieces. Very generous. It's the line I can't stand. Never go in more than groups of 2 if you want quick seats.

November 05, 2003 - 05:32PM

Hmm, not many updates...

Last week, there was a day where I had fish for lunch and dinner. Ah, good times...you know, the good stuff with the ginger and green onion. I was in heaven.

Went to Costco for gas and stuff. I bought myself 2 hotdogs. I told my sister about this extravagance later and she's like,"What? Me and Dad do it all the time." Cheated I tell you...They even get an extra pizza. Costco gas is always cheaper by a couple pennies. I couldn't help but pick up the Indiana Jones Widescreen DVD Box Set at Costco. They had a good deal and I wanted to watch Last Crusade again. Best one of the bunch although the banquet scene in Temple of Doom was one of my favorite scenes of all time. "Oooo...monkey brains!!!"

Sun Hong Kong almost became a favorite spot to go to again but I'm resisting that. Old Teahouse has kind of been neglected since I almost always spend like $10 (drink and food...lots of it).

There was a showing of the Coldplay Live 2003 Concert & Tour Documentary. Didn't go though cause for the price of admission you could have gone out and bought the dvd.

Didn't do much for Halloween. Even though there were tons to do. My sister's train arrived really really late so that effectively ruined any real plans of going anywhere. Jasmine talked about Haunted Forests and I think Chris and Lori went to one in San Jose. I'll have to ask how it was tonight. I was so hungry that night. At first the train was supposed to get at Emeryville at like 7:18PM. It ended up coming at like 9PM. My sister even missed the Emeryville station and didn't get off till the Jack London stop. Turns out she was watching Gilmore Girls on headphones and didn't hear the announcement. By the time she noticed the word Emeryville outside her window, it was too late. What a goof. Hahahaha. My sister came up with her friend Miri and we ended up going with Michael Uy to Koryo Korean. Yumm...3 Soon Doo Boos and a Tol Sok Bi Bim Bap. Watched "What Lies Beneath" for Halloween. Everyone crashed at my place for the night.

I forgot to mention that at Pac Bell Park, this guy going to the urinal next to me, asks me jokingly, as he unbuckled his belt, not spray his sandals. I'm like dude, I'm trying to complete my transaction here. You know the urinal rules. Eyes straight in front. Actually if you don't know the urinal rules, I've included a small test.

I forgot my wallet at home once last week. So I had to hitch a free ride to work. It's so easy to do now. Sometimes I hate waiting for the bus to roll around if ever. At the end of the day, I was a little late to the terminal cause I realized I had left my cell phone at work. I got to the elevators before I realized that I had left it plugged in and didn't have it with me. After a nice brisk run, the really nice lady bus driver let me get on for free without the card because she knew who I was. I had started stuffing in dollars into the machine but she looked at me and said,"What happened?" I said,"Forgot my card at home." and she made me take back my money. She's so nice! If only every AC Transit bus driver was that nice.

Finally got me some new clothes during the Old Navy Fall Sale. Lots of work clothes and some new sweaters. Even some pjs. I've never had pjs. Well maybe when I was a kid.

At Costco, I couldn't help but get me this huge Nemo fish. Pics shortly.

Fred and Bojangles came over on Saturday to discuss snowboarding/snow season/Soul Calibur 2. Oh yeah. Went to Old Teahouse and then Sun Hong Kong. Must remember that Mango means Pina Colada (or whatever that was) at Sun Hong Kong.

I was going to go camping with Chris this weekend but he has just notified me that he's not feeling so well. Stomach flu it sounds like. This sucks cause tonight is Matrix Revolutions: IMAX night. Oh yeah. 11:50PM. It'll be great.

Almost done with Golden Sun 2. I'm doing all the sidequests before the final showdown. What'll I do?

This woman checked my $20 at McDonalds with that special pen. Do I look like a counterfeiter?

Oooo...infrared control to make green lights.

Look at this review of the new Matrix movie. Man.....

Went to D&A restaurant in Oakland last night. Really packed. The last time I went was in Junior year. Had tofu, seafood medley, and pig intestine. Oh yeah.

I looked at snowboards at Big-5. They have a sale on snowgear.
