REQUIRED TEXTS: Language, Proof, and Logic. Barwise, Jon & Etchemendy, John. (2002)
Note: Do NOT buy a used copy or you will be unable to use the included software.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS:
(1) Homework Assignments (20%): Due regularly.
(2) Exam #1 on Chapters 1-2 (20%): Wednesday, February 5.
(3) Exam #2 on Chapters 3-5 (20%): Wednesday, March 5.
(4) Exam #3 on Chapters 6-8 (20%): Wednesday, April 30.
(5) Exam #4 on Chapters 9-10 (20%): Final Exam Period*
Exams will contain problems similar to those given for homework and those done in class.
Note: Students should be prepared to show picture identification on all of the exam dates.

*The fourth exam will be the same format and length as all prior exams, but the entire exam period will be available.  Students will be allowed to use the exam period to retake any or all prior exams.  Retakes will contain different questions, but have the same format as prior exams.  That means that a well-prepared student who made excellent use of the time allotted could conceivably take all four exams during the final exam period.  Also, while anyone may retake any exam, if you turn it in to me, I will count the score from your second attempt only.

Make-up Work: Late homework is not accepted.  Make-up exams will not be given.  You may take any exams you miss during the final exam period.  No work of any kind will be accepted after the final exam date.

Attendance:  Attendance is expected.  Quality class participation and an excellent attendance record may be used to resolve borderline cases.

Drop Policy: The college has determined that the last day to drop without a "W" is January 25 and that the last day to drop with a "W" is April 18.  I will only add students who are present on the first day of class, and only if space permits.

Academic Honesty: I assume you are familiar with the College's policies on Academic Honesty.  I consider it my responsibility in cases of academic dishonesty to respond with the most severe penalty.

Students with disabilities: Students with disabilities who may need accommodations for any sort of disability are invited to make an appointment to see me.
