Committees

Committees

Advocacy Committee is dedicated to the organization and management of CaHPSA’s advocacy campaigns throughout the semester. Members will have the opportunity to arrange legislative visits, work with advocacy organizations on and off campus, and learn more about both the legislative process and health advocacy as a whole.

Policy Research Committee is focused on researching the key policies and issues that form the foundation of CaHPSA’s educational and advocacy efforts. Members will learn how to objectively perform policy research and join CaHPSA’s Health Alerts program, which will focus on current events impacting the healthcare space.

External Committee will be focused on the training and management of CaHPSA’s certified enrollment counselors. Members will work with directors to plan CaHPSA enrollment and education events. Members will also provide trainings and presentations to other organizations and general members in order to promote great awareness and understanding of the healthcare system and health insurance.

Differences Between General and Committee Membership

All members are considered “General Members” and are required to attend 75% of general meetings, which will occur twice a month. “General Members” will have access to a curated array of events, opportunities, and socials throughout the semester to attend, including access to CaHPSA Statewide events and resources.

“Committee Members” are general members who choose to become more involved in the behind-the-scenes of CaHPSA. “Committee Members” will have the opportunity to work closely with executive board in managing and planning campaigns and event, as well as the opportunity to build stronger relationships with a smaller group. “Committee Members” have an addition commitment of at least one hour per week.
