The Glass
Onion / Calvin's Page

Where The Name of This Site Comes From

I've been a moderate Beatles nut for quite a while now. You see, back in high school, a couple of my buddies (Jim Casaburi and Roy Kao) introduced me to their music and after that, my taste in music was forever changed.

In any case, I thought the lyrics to the song "Glass Onion" from their White Album were convoluted and filled with enough self references to be somewhat descriptive of my perspectives of things. heh. Slightly seriously, though, my interpretation of the lyrics isn't very good, but involves how the glass onion is a distorted way of trying to see another perspective. Much like this website. hehehe.

Don't take my word for it. Here are the lyrics to the song. You can try to make heads or tails (or edges) out of them. =)

Glass Onion (Lennon/McCartney)

I told you about strawberry fields
You know the place where nothing is real
Well here's another place you can go
Where everything flows.
Looking through the bent backed tulips
To see how the other half live
Looking through a glass onion.
I told you about the walrus and me-man
You know that we're as close as can be-man
Well here's another clue for you all
The walrus was Paul.
Standing on the cast iron shore-yeah
Lady Madonna trying to make ends meet-yeah
Looking through a glass onion.

I told you about the fool on the hill
I tell you man he living there still
Well here's another place you can be
Listen to me.
Fixing a hole in the ocean
Trying to make a dove-tail joint-yeah
Looking through a glass onion.
