Cal Libertarians Newsgroup

The Cal Libertarians maintain a newsgroup for discussions related to the club and of general libertarian interest. It can be reached at ucb.org.cal-libertarians.

The Official Charter reads:

ucb.org.cal-libertarians is an unmoderated local newgroup for the discussion of issues of interest to libertarians and things related to the Cal Libertarians student group.
Unfortunately, no one else was interested in writing official charters at the time, so Kevin had to do it. What that means is, don't spam. At one time, a FAQ list was planned, but the newsgroup isn't high-volume enough to bother. An information posting about the club is in the works.

The newsgroup is now archived here. The archive is generated by Hypermail. These archives aren't totally automatic, so it will take some time from the post appearing on the newsgroup until it shows up here. The archive has been divided into semesters to ease maintainance. I'll try to keep subjects together, so I'll continue to save "Re: Anarchy" to fall, but now (as of Dec 20), I'll put new subjects in spring.

Accessing the Newsgroup

Unfortunately, we do not have the capability to do posting over the web. You will have to use a newsreader to post. If you are using newscape, you can view the newsgroup as news:ucb.org.cal-libertarians. If you are not on the Berkeley network (ISP, other school), you may or may not be able to read it locally (from you ISP's news server). Dejanews archives the group (and everything else), and we have local archives also (see above). Things may appear here before Dejanews, and it may be the other way around. Dejanews is automatic, but it takes a while for messages to get to them. If you want to post to the newsgroup from off campus, you will need to send mail to ucb-org-cal-libertarians@news.berkeley.edu.. This will be posted to the newsgroup. If you post to the newsgroup on your local server, it will be discarded when it gets to news.berkeley.edu, so don't do that.
