Slams

Slams are a competitive venue  for you to show your skills. Five judges are selected randomly from the audience and instructed to score poems on a scale of 0 to 10 points. The top five poets  from the first round move on the finals. Poems must be no longer than 3 minutes, with a ten second grace period and props are not allowed. Slams are often limited to ten or less competitors, so may make sure to show up early so you can sign up!

Open Mics

Competition not your style? That's cool! We will also be hosting Open Mics. Open Mics are a chance to flex you skills on the mic in safe and supportive space. The rules of Open Mic are less restrictive. We often don't enforce time limits (although don't expect to let you stay on the stage for 30 minutes), and props are allowed. We're also open to all kinds of performance, not just poetry. Music, Stand-up, etc. are all welcome!

Workshops

Looking for inspiration? Come to one of our workshops for chance to get your mind off classes, and write some poetry! Workshops are a great opportunity to fine tune your writing skills, and hang out with your fellow poets. This year, we will be hosting one workshop the week before every slam.
