Northern New Mexico has extreme temperatures. Many people believe that New Mexico is a hot desert, but in actuality, very little of New Mexico has deserts. While the climate is extremely dry, it still gets very cold during winters. The northern part of the the state gets a great deal of snow and it can last until as late as April. By May the flowers are blooming and spring is fullfledged. Summer comes quickly and the temperature is usually stays under 100F most of the time. Monsoons occur, like the one above, with their great lightning storms. By the end of September leaves begin to fall and the aspen change color. One can expect to be feeling the cold weather again by the end of November. You'll get your fair share of seasons in New Mexico!
