Magic and Herbs
-
artifact broadsword: Safranna could regain control as an undead when touching
this. She was charmed by the Hulians but touched this and was ok.
-
components: normally need a particular object/substance/disease to kill
someone (presumably near immortal beings)
-
crown: Shallatriel had found the crown which turned him into a mummy(?). We
went and killed the undead and the mummy, taking the crown which had corrupted
soul crystals and Phoranin got it destroyed in the temple of Rafiel. Turia
was influenced by the crown and tried to steal it, before we eventually got
it destroyed.
-
divination: Leo's divinations use divine power. Thora's divinations may be
as well as she speaks directly with agents of Freya, or Freya herself. Priests
do not normally contact the deity or the deity's agents directly.
-
divination protection: can get it done under a building's foundations for
25,000gp. Should do this next time we get a flying ship made, probably
viable. Costs 100,000gp for a device which protects a single person (two
weeks to make), 200,000gp for a device which protects multiple people (would
need to do research). For the single person device needs: a bunch of wolf
hair, a hag's eyeball, and troll nails (all these need to be fairly fresh);
a ring which protects, and the shield of a land (anyone have
any decent idea for this? The main heraldic shield of a country is all
I can think of). There is a spell which prevents any attempt to divine
information or scry on someone, as long as godlike powers are not involved
(it's an 8th or 9th level spell).
-
geas: the geas on Tess from Eric, to not harm Eric, is moderately strong
and difficult to remove. It will require a wish to remove, but no one has
been willing to do even that. Apparently geases can have nasty side effects
...
-
Glantrian magic intrudes on the realm of the gods according to Charastra
-
mortals can become powerful through the use of magic
-
magic mushrooms: the stuff Tess has been using to have visions with the
aid of Thora
-
onyx ball of listening: same idea as a crystal ball but you can listen
-
power: limited on Mystara, probably controlled elsewhere by deities controlling
the plane. Not limited in Alphatian Home System, probably could reach godhood
in this manner ...
-
power, items of: there are many across the world, such as the Singing Spire
-
regeneration: need a limb to regenerate it well after it is chopped off
-
reincarnation was developed from mages discussing it with faerie
-
resurrection: have to go and get the person's soul from Limbo (28 days
before it is assigned to a plane). Shadow Elves can resurrect someone directly
without having to go get them.
-
rod of terror: a leg bone with a skull at one end, 20% chance on each use
it makes the wearer appear more ugly
-
Singing Spire: a musical artifact which Lani and the faenrie seek. Created
by the Ierendi's. For goodness sake Lani, go and talk to the Ierendi's.
According to Talib, the people who made the Singing Spire are a family in
Alphatia - a noble house called the Erendels. The Singing Spire is big -
it's a tower-like thing.
-
spell keys: spell keys allow you to work magic when it wouldn't normally
work or in a way it wouldn't normally work (a particular spell). Probably
required for mortals to flaunt the laws immortals have on a particular
plane regards allowable spells.
-
soul crystals: priests of Rafiel use these to memorize spells. When a Shadow
Elf dies, their soul goes to a soul crystal and they are later reincarnated.
-
Star Device: an artifact in Nimmuria. Leo saw screams and burning bodies
when he thought about this. To activate it a Star Key is required, there's
only one or two of these left, others were destroyed. It can be used to
destroy the Wyrm who is red but not red, or get a piece of the Sundered
Man (these tasks seem one and the same). The Enduks know about this. It
gathers energy from the stars. It can also be used to destroy Vermissa.
18 weeks from the 14th of Klarmont 1013 until the Star Device next discharged.
It was built by priests of Ixion and is aimed by a looking device.
-
Turin's Cloak: bought by Orlan. It is good for rangers and mages, shielding
from magical and mundane view. It never gets dirty, nor does the wearer,
don't get tired as easily either.
-
zzonga fruit: unpleasant stuff which is highly addictive and causes the
user to feel mellow. Illegal in Alphatia.
