pre-commit Debian packaging

This repository contains original Debian packages for pre-commit and its dependencies, currently:

• pre-commit 0.7.6
• nodeenv 0.13.3 This was accepted into unstable and backported to jessie-backports.
• aspy.yaml 0.2.1 (Python 2 and Python 3)
• (non-original package, custom backported to jessie only) python-cached-property 1.2.0+ds-1.1 (Python 3 only)

Packages are built for Debian jessie and Debian stretch. Last updated February 29, 2016.

Instructions for Debian jessie (stable)

1. Import the repository signing key:

   curl https://www.ocf.berkeley.edu/~ckuehl/pre-commit/ckuehl.asc | sudo apt-key add -

2. Add the repository to your sources:

   sudo apt-get install -y apt-transport-https
   echo 'deb https://www.ocf.berkeley.edu/~ckuehl/pre-commit jessie main' | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/pre-commit.list
   sudo apt-get update

3. Install pre-commit:

   sudo apt-get install pre-commit

If you prefer, you can instead download the Debian packages individually and install them with dpkg (not recommended):

• pre-commit
• nodeenv
• python3-aspy.yaml

Instructions for Debian stretch (testing)

1. Import the repository signing key:

   curl https://www.ocf.berkeley.edu/~ckuehl/pre-commit/ckuehl.asc | sudo apt-key add -

2. Add the repository to your sources:

   sudo apt-get install -y apt-transport-https
   echo 'deb https://www.ocf.berkeley.edu/~ckuehl/pre-commit stretch main' | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/pre-commit.list
   sudo apt-get update

3. Install pre-commit:

   sudo apt-get install pre-commit

If you prefer, you can instead download the Debian packages individually and install them with dpkg (not recommended):

• pre-commit
• python3-aspy.yaml

Known issues

• rvm-download is not (yet) packaged for Debian, so ruby-build will always be used instead. This is slower as Ruby will always be compiled from source (the first time you run pre-commit), but should not otherwise break the package.
