I'm going to start off my Chinese astrology section with a page dedicated to the Dragon, my animal.  When I get the chance, I will make pages dedicated to each of the other 11 animals in the Chinese zodiac.

How did Chinese astrology evolve, you ask?  Well, the story goes something like this... in ancient times, Chinese astrologers apparently began noticing certain distinguishing personality traits in people born on the same year.  After diligently compiling data over the course of many, many generations,  astrologers discovered that there was a repeating 12 year cycle for these specific traits.  One complete cycle takes 60 years, that is five 12 year cycles.

With this in mind, the astrologers carefully selected animals to represent each year of the 12 year cycle.  In short, the nature of each animal epitomized the distinctive qualities of the people born on those years.  The order in which the animals are assigned is as follows:

Year Animal Year Animal
1st Rat 7th Horse
2nd Ox 8th Ram
3rd Tiger 9th Monkey
4th Rabbit 10th Rooster
5th Dragon 11th Dog
6th Snake 12th Pig

Please have a look around and learn what the ancient Chinese astrologers, and also some people today, believe about the signifance of one's birth year. Disclainer: Please also keep in mind that all of this is just for fun, so have a good time and enjoy!

The Dragon

The noble and magnificent Dragon has been the subject of countless tales that have enchanted and stirred the imaginations of many across different times and cultures.  Strong, energetic,  and outspoken, Dragons are natural leaders.

The power of the Dragon is admired and revered by all.  Intuition and luck are key attributes that further empower the Dragon.  Cognizant of their powers, Dragons can be somewhat overbearing and obnoxious.

Being a perfectionists, Dragons set extraordinarily high standards for themselves.  Furthermore, the Dragons' expectations of the same perfectionist ideals from others make them difficult to get along with at times.  In spite their egotism, Dragons exert a considerable amount of influence towrds all around them.

Intelligence is a hallmark of Dragons.  Thinking constantly, they have many interesting opinions,  great advice, and a very eclectic knowledge of the world.  In social settings Dragons love to be the center of attention and show off their might and power.  However, the Dragons' arrogance and stubborness make them extremely narrow-minded especially if it brings their power into question and embarasses them.  So be very wary of a Dragon with a bruised ego!

Dragons are gifted, intelligent, lucky, and intuitive making them quite adept at business.  Their natural tendency to take on leadership roles gives them great opportunities for success.  The sky is the limit for Dragons for they can succeed in whatever profession they choose.

Dragons innately know how to use their powers to get what they want for their friends and for themselves.  Although Dragons aren't materialistic by nature, they are attracted to beauty, wealth, prestige, and power.  Dragons know how to live the good life and their generosity towards others, especially their admirers, knows no bounds.
