See the Lord (www.seethelord.org), a local nonprofit focused on providing free eye exams and glasses to the underserved, will be having a service trip on Friday, October 13th from 12-6pm to serve immigrant farmworkers and their families in Watsonville, CA. We’re looking for especially Spanish-speaking volunteers, however you do not have to speak Spanish or be religious to volunteer! We’ll train you with the skills needed and basic clinical Spanish that you will use during the trip. It is a great way to give back to the community, learn optometric skills, and network with doctors. The doctors within the STL community are more than happy to mentor pre-optometry students by teaching you clinical skills the day of and answer any questions you might have about the profession even after this trip – definitely a good experience that you can talk about during your optometry school applications!
The deadline to sign up is Friday, September 15th. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Dr. Rose Hoang at email@example.com
