Now with more leaders heading up GASP as chairs and greater core membership, Kaja’s goal is to ensure that we’re all communicating regularly. This way we get eyes and ears from all chaired areas — financial, internal, etc. — on each project that’s on the table. This keeps all our events in sync with the GASP mission, and also gives leaders the chance ask for support from each other so that energy and motivation stay fresh through the year.

Jocelyn is a second year student in the Clinical Science area. Her specific goal for this semester is to organize a departmental presentation for staff and students on the current issues of diversity, while proposing a plan on how to recruit and retain more diversity students into the department. Her long-term goal is make sure that the Psychology Department is committed to ensuring that once students get here, they stay here! As GASP Diversity Chair, she will organize events aimed at fostering a genuine sense of community, belonging, and inclusiveness.
Shaikh Ahmad

Shaikh is a first year student in the Clinical Science area. As internal chair, Shaikh’s goal is to facilitate communications and interactions between Psychology graduate students and faculty/staff. Shaikh’s main focus this year will be on obtaining graduate student feedback via the annual “quality of life” survey, and discussing our findings with the department faculty and staff representatives, as well as with graduate students in the department.

Megan’s goal as the Social Chair of GASP is to foster a sense of community and culture within the Psychology Department, where students and faculty have a variety of opportunities to relax, spend time together, and have fun! This spring she plans to build on the success of past and standing events, such as movie night, bi-monthly bar crawl, the Halloween party, and the trip to Tahoe (even though there was no snow this year!), and to help organize some really awesome new events, like the upcoming Oscar watch party and student-faculty bowling tournament.

Carly is a first year student in the Cognition, Brain, and Behavior area. Her specific goal for this semester is to get GASP’s bank account officially up and in good order. Her long-term goal is make sure that GASP’s financial house is in order and everyone gets reimbursed quickly and efficiently for all GASP activities.
