Instructions.
- 1. Copy stealgs.exe
into the same directory
as pd.exe (the
Prototype-D executable).
- 2. Play the ROM of Pokémon Gold/Silver (US version) in the emulator.
- 3. When you fight a trainer and see the pokémon you wish to steal, run
stealgs.exe from within that directory.
- 4. A file dialog should open. Select the ROM file that you are playing.
- 5. If all goes well, a few lines of text will be shown and the
last one will say something about a save-file being restored (either
that or the bottom text will be clipped because I inadvertently
did not make the text box large enough for all displays/fonts).
- 6. Now, if you have a master ball (or ultra ball, etc), you can whip it
out and catch this pokémon.
The caught pokémon will have its proper moves and stats. This effect isn't
dramatic, but it served as an exercise to show why, unlike on Red/Blue, a simple
GameShark code could not
accomplish this same effect on Gold/Silver, although many sharkers had been searching
for such a code.
