I can't imagine how different my college experience would've turned out had I not been dragged to Kapwa my sophomore year. I not only met most of my closest friends in fellowship, but I also learned about other opportunities to serve my community. For me, Kapwa was also the first space which allowed me to simultaneously affirm and criticize my faith without reluctance. I would definitely encourage newcomers to attend the Bible studies and the gatherings. Four years ago, I certainly didn't expect to become a regular. Now I'm here writing this and thinking about all the wonderful memories I was blessed to experience as part of this group.

As a transfer student, I thought it would be a challenge to find a community at Cal since most juniors had the advantage of already knowing each other for two years and establishing their "barkadas."  Little did I know that I would find my home in a bible study group -- a group I hesitated exploring having grown tired of 12 years of Catholic school.  Throughout the chaos that was college, Kapwa's kept me grounded in my personal faith and values.  Kapwa didn't preach at me and it wasn't simply about Bible study; Kapwa was my avenue for meeting really cool people who shared my common values and goals.  It was at Kapwa where I met many friends and fostered some of my deepest, most lasting friendships.  Kapwa was my home at Cal, and as a Kapwa alum, I still feel the same welcome and warmth that greeted me the first time I stepped into a Kapwa meeting each time I return.
