Transit should be for everyone, especially those populations who rely on it the most to go to work and get around their neighborhoods. Transit agencies not only benefit from providing service in neigbhorhoods where people who are low income and don’t have access to vehicles live and work, these agencies are also legally required to serve all races and nationalities equally.
The Equal Transit tool can be used to determine whether proposed transit stop changes equitably serve the transit’s service community. The tool compares existing and proposed stops, based on five demographic variables;

- Vehicle Availability
- Access to low income jobs
