Congratulations to the Cal Bears for qualifying for the National Championships (To be held at Stanford University) for the first time since the mid-1980's. The team qualified first in the west. The western regional were held April 13 and the top three teams were the following:

If the Bears win the National Championships it will be the first National Title since 1975. Congtraulations to Freshmen Alex Chanksky who won the High Bar Event at the Regional Championships with a 9.875, David Kruse for winning the vaulting event with a 9.65, and Trent Wells for the winning the Parallel Bars Event with a school record of 9.90.

The team will also face the following top three teams from the east, which are the following:

On April 5-6 Josh Birckelbaw won the all- around competition at the MPSF with a 57.75. David Kruse won the High Bar and Trent Wells won the Parallel Bars. The Team placed first place.

On behave of the Men's Gymnastics team we would like to dedicate the rest of the 1996 season to coach Chuck Keeney who has recently passed away on 3/28/96. Coach Keeney will be missed.

Trent Wells recently broke the school record on to the high bar with a score of 9.95 and on the parallel bars with a 9.90. David Kruse scored the second highest all- around score with a 57.55. Congratulations!
