San Jose Sharks: 3 Stanley Cups in 7 Years?

San Jose Sharks

With the Raiders moving from Oakland to Las Vegas four years ago, there are now five Bay Area major professional sports teams: Oakland A's (baseball), Golden State Warriors (basketball), San Francisco Giants (baseball), San Francisco 49ers (football), and San Jose Sharks (hockey).

Since moving to Oakland in 1968, the A's have won four World Series. The majority of those championships (three) came in a three-year span in the 1970s (1972, 1973, 1974). The other championship came in 1989.

Since moving to the Bay Area in 1962, the Warriors have won five NBA Finals. The majority of those championships (three) came in a recent four-year span (2015, 2017, 2018). The other two championships came in 1975 and 2022.

Since moving to San Francisco in 1958, the Giants have won three World Series. All three of those championships came in a recent five-year span (2010, 2012, 2014).

Since being created in 1946, the San Francisco 49ers have won five Super Bowls. The majority of those championships (three) came in a six-year span in the 1980s (1984, 1988, 1989). The other two championships came in 1981 and 1994.

The San Jose Sharks started play in 1991 and have yet to win a Stanley Cup. I predict that in the next 30 years, they will win three Stanley Cups in a seven-year span.
