My name is Ricardo Perez-Truglia, and I am an economics professor at the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley. My research focuses on various topics, including income inequality, the gender pay gap, pay transparency, and tax compliance. Typically, I begin by formulating a hypothesis about how individuals make decisions or how a policy will affect them. To test those hypotheses, I collaborate with firms and governments. These collaborations often involve field experiments.
In 2020, I was named a Sloan Research Fellow, an award that recognizes outstanding early-career faculty who have the potential to revolutionize their fields of study. My research has been published in academic journals such as the American Economic Review and the Journal of Political Economy, and it has been featured in media outlets such as the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal.
I teach the core MBA course on Microeconomics. I was awarded the Earl F. Cheit Award for Excellence in MBA Teaching and recognized by Poets & Quants’ as one of the Best 40-Under-40 Business School Professors. I also work for Amazon as a Scholar. We conduct research to improve employee satisfaction, diversity, equity and inclusion.
