Get into Yours makes a rare appearance as the first song of the set.

Encore: Here Comes Sickness, In 'N' Out of Grace, Hate the Police, Fix Me
Notes: Mudhoney plays the first day of this free weekend-long festival. Seattle has a series of neighborhood-based festivals, and Mudhoney is slowly doing a circuit of them. They played The Capitol Hill Block Party in 2001 and 2002, and the West Seattle Summerfest in 2009. (There's also the Fremont Solstice and the Georgetown Carnival for major neighborhood events.) They play 'Editions of You' for the first time since 10/3/98. The stage is at the intersection of NW Ballard Ave and 22nd Ave NW, facing north. The hit the stage and, not having had a proper soundcheck, Mark is looking for longtime soundman Adam back by the soundboard: "Have you seen Adam? He's the handsome man here. Not like everyone else ... ... well, just look at him!" Steve starts up the intro to 'Broken Hands' early and Mark catches his attention, pointing to his own eyes, and then Steve's setlist. They play 'Editions of You' at an unusual spot for a cover, being in the middle of the main set. And they play it differently than they did in 1998 - a little more faithful to Roxy Music's version, with a different intro and outro than they'd done in the past. But Mark and Dan still don't quite line up on that drum roll coming out of the solo, proving that some things never change. During 'Something So Clear,' a naked woman walks through the crowd, before being encouraged by a police officer to put her dress back on. That's really more of a Fremont Solstice thing (home of the naked bike ride) than a Ballard Seafood Fest thing, but the two neighborhoods do sit next to each other, so some overlap is to be expected. When they come back for the encore, Mark notes that there's a large crowd, and all it takes is "some seafood, some beer ... also, it doesn't hurt that it's free." He can see the Sunset Tavern down the block and then says, regarding it being free, "...because we can pack out The Sunset, but you people don't always show up." Mark breaks his A string during 'Here Comes Sickness,' which is hard to do! So, he gets Steve's spare Guild guitar for 'In N Out of Grace,' and they touch their matching guitars together before starting the song. As they close with 'Fix Me,' Mark notes that it's the second Keith Morris song of the evening (the other being 'Behind the Door' - Keith having been in both The Circle Jerks and Black Flag).

7/12/16 Concorde 2. Brighton, England
Supported By: Los Pepes

Encore: You Got it, Here Comes Sickness, In 'N' Out of Grace, Hate the Police, Fix Me
Notes: At one point, they take a second to tune, and Mark jokes to the crowd, "You want the grunge to be in perfect tuning, right?" Steve, on how kids discover Mudhoney: "They're just discovering us through the obvious Nirvana portal. Or Soundgarden. There was a kid dressed just like Kurt Cobain at the Brighton show yesterday, whereas I've never come across one dressed like Chris Cornell!"

Encore: You Got it, Into the Drink, Who You Drivin' Now, In 'N' Out of Grace, Hate the Police
Notes: During the breakdown of 'In N Out of Grace,' people are crowdsurfing, and Mark gives the audience advice: "No, pull that guy that way [points], away from the bouncer! No, wrong way! [Bouncers catch the guy, and are tossing him]. Oh, fuck. ...Brexit." Then, there's more crowd surfers, and Mark gives more advice: "Pull him away from the bouncers! Pull him that way! It's a tug of war! ...Fuck, you lost!""

7/16/16 "Rock Herk Festival". Herk-De-Stad, Belgium
Supporting: Absynthe Minded, Arno, Future of the Left, The Notwist, The Germans, The Whatevers
Supported By: Supergenius, Mantis
Soundcheck: (Into the Drink)
Set: Suck You Dry, I Like it Small, You Got it, 1995, In 'N' Out of Grace, No One Has, Judgment Rage..., Touch Me I'm Sick, I'm Now The Final Course, Chardonnay, The Only Son of the Widow from Nain, Hate the Police
Notes: Mudhoney does two shows in two countries in about a day, which this being the first. They play this festival from 5-5:40pm. They had the other show booked already, and then this offer came in, so they do both. They do a quick soundcheck while the festival is going on, so there's a small crowd there to witness it. The request from the soundboard is for "something short," so they do 'Into the Drink' through to the first chorus. They have a bit of time left over at the end of their set, so audible to play 'Hate the Police.'

7/16/16 "Kliko Festival". Patronaat. Haarlem, Netherlands
Supported By: Allah-Las, PANGEA, Tijuana Panthers, The Jacket, St. Tropez, Moses & The Firstborn, The Black Cult, Endless Boogie, Odonis, Odonis, James Place, Los Piranas, Yung, Have You Ever Seen the Jane Fonda Aerobic VHS?, The Phantom Four, Iguana Death Cult
Set: Suck You Dry, Who You Drivin' Now?, I Like it Small, Broken Hands, You Got it, Get into Yours, In 'N' Out of Grace, Something So Clear, Judgment Rage..., Touch Me I'm Sick, I'm Now, The Final Course, Behind the Door, Chardonnay, The Only Son of the Widow from Nain, Hate the Police
Notes: Mudhoney plays this show after the Rock Herk Festival. They get off the stage there at 5:40 then drive to another country and are on stage at 10:30pm here - in your face Phil Collins at Live Aid. There's an accident on the road between the two shows, which leads to quite a bit of traffic, and the guys getting to the venue 10 minutes before they were to load their stuff on stage. They have a bit of time left over near the end, so audible to play 'Behind the Door' and 'Hate the Police.'

7/17/16 Vera. Groningen, Netherlands
Attendance: 450
Supported By: Cosmic Psychos
Set: Fuzzgun '91, Suck You Dry, I Like it Small, Broken Hands, Editions of You, Oblivion, Get into Yours, 1995, Where the Flavor is, No One Has, Flat out Fucked, Something So Clear, Touch Me I'm Sick, I'm Now, The Final Course, Behind the Door, Chardonnay, The Only Son of the Widow from Nain
Encore: You Got it, Into the Drink, Who You Drivin' Now?, In 'N' Out of Grace, Hate the Police, Fix Me
Notes: They cut 'What to do with the Neutral' from the setlist (scheduled to be played after 'Touch Me I'm Sick') per Guy's request - it'd taken them a while to build up energy in the show, and he thought it best not to drop it down right after 'Touch Me I'm Sick.' Also, Guy was starting the next morning on a 142 mile bike ride to raise money for the Northwest Parkinson's Foundation, so maybe he wanted that extra three minutes for sleep.

7/19/16 Lagerhaus. Bremen, Germany

Encore: You Got it, Into the Drink, In 'N' Out of Grace, Hate the Police, Fix Me
Notes: At some point, someone in the crowd yells at Mark, and he announces, "I heard someone say 'Fuck you, I love you' to me. The only person who says something to me like that is my woman." And in-between songs, Mark shows off some of his German-language skills, telling the crowd, "Ich bin ein kleiner Schmetterling" (I'm a small butterfly), "Guten Abend meine Damen und Herren" (Good evening, ladies and gentlemen), and "Deutschland-Amerika Freundschaft" (German and American friendship).

Notes: The venue is a boat on the Danube river. 'F.D.K.' is on the setlist before '1995,' but Dan skips it and starts the latter song, and the rest of the guys follow him. They make up for skipping it by playing it during the encore.

8/1/16 Kastel. Pula, Croatia (CANCELLED)
Notes: This show was cancelled soon after being announced due to logistical issues. Upon reflection, it looked like it would be too tough to play and travel between Vienna, Pula, and Primosten on successive days.

With Eddie Vedder: Rockin' in the Free World
Notes: Mudhoney plays the first day of this two-day festival in Dana Point, which is located between Los Angeles and San Diego. 'The Final Course' is on the setlist after 'I'm Now,' and they cut it because of festival set-length constraints. Mark and Steve come out at the end of Eddie Vedder's set (along with some other people who'd played that day), and play Neil Young's 'Rockin' in the Free World.' Steve is playing one of Eddie's acoustic guitars and standing center stage and on a riser, making him particularly prominent. Mark then takes Steve's spot stage left and joins in on the second and third choruses. The band is then rounded out with Jack Irons on drums, John Doe on bass and ... some guy on electric guitar, with everyone else forming a chorus stage right.

12/17/16 The Crocodile. Seattle, WA (75h min)
Attendance: 525
Supported By: The Tom Price Desert Classic, The Pink Parts
Set: Fuzzgun '91, Who You Drivin' Now?, Need, Twenty Four, Broken Hands, Flat out Fucked, Sweet Young Thing, Let it Slide, Something So Clear, Chain that Door, Mudride, The Farther I Go, By Her Own Hand, Here Comes Sickness, Dead Love
Encore: Into the Drink, This Gift, If I Think, Burn it Clean, Touch Me I'm Sick
Notes: There's lots to talk about with this setlist. These two shows are for The Crocodile's 25th Anniversary, so the band plays only songs that are at least 25 years old (Dan's idea). They've got a song they haven't played in 25 years (By Her Own Hand - 12/22/90), 20 years (Dead Love - 6/30/95), 15 years (The Farther I Go - 3/19/99), 5 years (Need - 9/12/11, Twenty Four - 9/3/10, Chain that Door - 10/3/10, and Burn it Clean - 10/3/10), and then Let it Slide, which they played a scant four years ago (7/27/12). The set has 8 songs from Superfuzz (plus Twenty Four from that era), and 6 songs each from the self-titled record and EGBDF. Perhaps the most remarkable thing is that they played only old songs, but didn't play standbys You Got it, In 'N' Out of Grace, or Hate the Police. And since they omit Hate the Police, there goes Mark's only chance to avoid playing guitar and just sing (unless you want to include all those punk covers they started playing in 1990). For the encore, they've got 9 songs on the setlist to pick from, and play 5 of them. The 4 they omit are Get into Yours, When Tomorrow Hits, No One Has, and Good Enough. Before closing with Touch Me I'm Sick, Steve asks, "Did you guys notice that all the songs are really old?" Mark: "As are we." Steve: "Dan hasn't hit his 50s yet." Mark: "What the fuck?!" Steve: "He's just a child."

12/18/16 The Crocodile. Seattle, WA (75h min)
Attendance: 525
Supported By: The Less Than Equals
Set: Fuzzgun '91, Into the Drink, The Farther I Go, By Her Own Hand, This Gift, No One Has, Good Enough, Touch Me I'm Sick, Something So Clear, Chain that Door, If I Think, Burn it Clean, Get into Yours, When Tomorrow Hits, Dead Love
Encore: Flat out Fucked, Let it Slide, Need, Twenty Four, Here Comes Sickness
Notes: In contrast to last night where they played a lot of songs they hadn't played in years, tonight they play a lot of songs they haven't played since last night (and then some others). The show is again for the Crocodile's 25th anniversary, and they again play only songs that are at least 25 years old. Several of Guy's colleagues from Harborview Medical Center are in attendance, and Guy says Hi to them when the band comes out for the encore, starting off with, "I don't often speak in this setting...I often speak in other settings." They huddle up and call audibles through the encore. Like last night, they've got 9 songs written down to choose from, and play 5. The four they omit are Who You Drivin' Now?, Broken Hands, Mudride, and Sweet Young Thing.
