BASQUE 2007

Berkeley Quiz Bowl would like to announce this year's mirror of BASQUE, our summer mirror of Chicago Open and sundry associated tournaments.

The tournament director is Paul Lujan, <plujan at berkeley dot edu>. Please direct all correspondence to him.

BASQUE is tentatively scheduled for the same weekend as Chicago Open, August 4-5. However, if enough people express interest in the weekend of the 11th, it can be moved, so let me know.

Events

The tournament will certainly contain Chicago Open, as described here. The other events are all dependent on enough people being interested, so if you are interested, please express that interest so that we can work on actually setting up the mirror for that tournament.

The other events which may exist include:

Fees and packets

Chicago Open will require some combination of question-writing and money-paying. To be slightly more specific:

Exact numbers will be available soon. Packets should be a subset of the full distribution (i.e. no writing 6/6 trash), which is available here.

As mentioned above, packets should be sent to Seth, not me.

The trash tournament, lit singles, and history doubles are being centrally written, so only money is needed for those. How much money will be determined once we can hold negotiations.

Science Monstrosity will probably require packet submission. Again, I'll work out the details if there is sufficient interest to hold the tournament.

Current status

At the moment, we only have arrangements to mirror Chicago Open. It is important to let us know if you are interested in any of the other events!

The following people/teams have expressed interest in the events. Bold indicates confirmed.
