Iowa 2-5 7. Minn 1-6 8. Carleton 1-6 8. Wisconsin 1-6 As you can see, Chicago and Michigan were clearly the class of the field smashing previously held Deep Bench team point records. Players from all the teams gave it their all and good sportspersonship reigned. It was an incredibly gorgeous weekend here in Minnesota. We had a luxurious 1.5 hour break for lunch and the tournament was done fifteen minutes early. The Gopher football team won its homecoming game against Michigan State and our Deep Bench team came in last. All in all I had a great weekend. There was a tactile bonus for each of the quad rounds (identify different colas by taste, identify kids' pasta shapes, candy bar cross-sections, etc.) and an audio tossup for each of the singles/doubles rounds (John Lee Hooker, Fiddler on the Roof, Telemann, musical math questions, etc.). Some ended up being pretty dumb, most I think were fairly well received. I'm sure there were some people who dreaded seeing me walk in the room with the CD player or a bag of saws. Each packet included a question about a dead Republican (Coolidge, Blaine, Nixon, Atwater, etc). There's never enough time to edit, but that's any tournament.
