Congratulation to Case Western Reserve University A (Josh Levit, Brandon Eilertson, and Jason Schlabach) who went undefeated in eleven games to win Mackenzie Bowl at the University of Western Ontario. Quick Final Results: 1. Case Western Reserve A (11-0) 2. University of Western Ontario (9-3) 3. Cornell University (8-3) 4. Bowling Green State University (8-2) 5. Queen's University A (7-3) Full team results and individual results will be posted when I am awake and do not have a trillion assignments due. Dave The University of Western Ontario Quiz Bowl Club hosted Mackenzie Bowl on October 16, 1999. 6 teams from Canada and 8 from the United States participated. The teams were divided into two pools of seven. Each team played nine round-robin games, playing every other team in their pool once and playing three games out of pool. Teams received 2 points for a victory in pool and 1 point for a victory out of pool. The unequal scheduling used in this system produced some weird results and I would strongly recommend against its use. However, that is no way lessens the achievement of CWRU A, who were clearly the class of the field. Thanks go out to: Matt Schneller, Charlie Steinhice & Ben Lea, for letting us use their questions; The UWO Department of Modern Languages and Literatures, who understand the concept of painless reservations (I ask them for a room; 30 seconds later, the room is reserved); The good folks at D&R Smoke Shop, where I got the Cuban cigars for the winners; Delaware Hall Residence Council, who provided the "goody bags" that Cornell liked so much; All the excellent scorekeepers and moderators.
