Comment: Miller was an alright professor. His exam was the easiest by far if you study his passed exams. He is pretty dry at lecturing, but his slides are amazing. I feel like I have a better understanding of genomics and GWAS :)

Comment: His lectures were more dry than Eisen's, and I felt that the material was a bit hard to grasp at times. Like, I'm still not entirely sure how to clone genes and make plasmids, etc. But overall, his exams and quizzes were straightforward and clear.

Comment: Although not the most engaging of lecturers, Miller does fairly good job teaching his portion of the class.

Comment: Professor Miller's lectures are dry in my opinion. However, he does present recent findings on his module--Genomics. Since it's a rapidly evolving field, it's fantastic that Miller is up to speed with current findings and that he ties them into his discussion. I do feel a bit uneasy about the superficiality of the topics discussed. We went over many concepts on genomic studies but never an in-depth examination on any of them. After the class, I can say that I have a good general understanding on genomic research and studies and perhaps enough to kickstart a small research project. As for grading, no homework, just weekly big/mini quizzes, and a midterm from his module. In my opinion, Miller's exam was the most difficult out of all three (him, Mike Eisen, and Matt Welch) but still was not too bad.

Comment: Very brief overview of genomics, with little to no attention paid to actual mechanisms or details behind analytical methods. Very broad and conceptual, and hence rather boring (perhaps a product of having such a short unit). Not very helpful in answering questions during class. Does touch on greater significance of concepts covered, but briefly. Somewhat monotone.

Comment: Interesting topic but not really great at lecturing. GSI can be helpful if you're confused on something. "assigned" hw and readings are the best way to prepare for the exam
