Comment: assignments from the textbook were horrible cuz the textbook sucked. ok lecturer. tests based on speed, so practice doing problems quickly like mad. other than that they were easy once u understood it. low class avg

Comment: he is really nice when it comes to asking question... really try to help the student but the way he explains it doesnt make a lot of sense... lectures were extremely confusing and hard to understand... most of the time he will tell you to read the book lol....

Comment: I enjoyed Keaveny's class quite a bit. Lectures can get a lot off topic but the exams are always based directly off the book and the book is pretty good at explaining stuff so no need to worry and missing class is ok because of that. The exams are very fair and the homework assignments are for effort and completion not correctness which is nice if you procrastinate. He is helpful and understanding of students

Comment: Midterms were straight-forward, but the final was much more complex. Assignments took awhile but he grades on completion!

Comment: Very fun, helpful, and applicable lectures. Would talk about his personal engineering experience and what it's like in the real world. Assignments could be kind of long... 18 phys 7A level problems but he graded for completion. both Midterms were easy to fair with 70% HW level problems and 30% harder. Final was very difficult. like there was only one out of eight problems that i fully knew how to do. Try to do well on the midterms and pray for help on the final.

Comment: As one of the first technical engineering courses that ME and CEE majors take, this class was straightforward, lightweight, and enjoyable. Professor Keaveny was a chill guy who liked to give us life advice; his lectures and exams were fairly low-level and closely followed the textbook. The first half of the class expounds upon the principles of statics from Physics 7A, and the rest moves on to a discussion of stress and strain in beams. I often found the material to be conceptually and computationally easier than Physics 7A or 7B, so if you can handle those, you can do well in this class.

Comment: He was a good professor, but didn't each in a very concise manner. Tis course is very book heavy, and you must do almost all of the problems in the book to do well. His exams are not that difficult.

Comment: Dude was awesome. HW wasn't graded on correctness. Tests were very straightforward. He talked a lot about applications. I liked him but some people didn't.

Comment: Can't explain stuff well. GSIs did most of the teaching. Exams were too simple so the class curve was kinda brutal.

Comment: Basically a writing class with writing assignments. Pretty boring and nobody attended lectures. Most of the assignments are pointless. Probably should take with Sohn

Comment: Professor is very enthusiastic about his work and will show you really awesome samples if you go to his office hours. He offers a lot of advice about further education and classes. The class is also very interesting. The projects were difficult but stimulating and the midterms tested your knowledge well. The final however was much more difficult than the midterms.

Comment: Professor Keaveny is GREAT. He went on lots of tangents and told anecdotes of his encounters with biomechanics while keeping everything relevant and never forgetting to teach us what we need to know. This is a great intro class to biomechanics and it really opened up a whole new interesting topic that I didn't know before. The class is very well run, and there is always help when you need it. The first homework assignment is very long, but the rest aren't bad at all. Study for the final, because it literally makes or breaks you. If you're squeamish, be prepared to close your eyes / ears because there's lots of talk about surgical procedures.
