Comment: If you want a clear and focused professor who ensures the material is learned, Griffith isn't for you. However, if you've got no problem with a fun guy who has no problem going off on infinite tangents during lectures, you'll love this class. His lectures are entirely disorganized, but not lacking in information. Assignments are very manageable and his lone exam is not challenging if you keep up with all the reading.

Comment: I really enjoyed this class! The professor tends to ramble off track but you can tell he knows his stuff. Do all your readings and you'll do fine on the essays and the final. In fact he gives us study guides and holds review sessions so there's shouldn't be a reason why you'd fail this class. I got behind on my readings and one of my essay was so so and I ended up with a B- in the class so I reccomend is class if you want to fulfill either the Arts and Literature breadth or the Philosophy and Values breadth.

Comment: Griffith is a good professor, but I just wasn't a fan of the material. You have a lot of reading to do in Classic10A. There are 2 essays and 1 final. If you read and write well, then you should do fine. The essays are graded a bit harsher than other classes than I have taken. Should be an easy B, but you have to work to get an A.

Comment: I loved reading the books, but the lecture is soooooo boring. About half the class would leave during the 5 minute break. If you like having lectures that are straight to the point without huge tangents, then this professor is going to be sooooo boring. Exam was an essay, identifying passages from books we've read, and identifying key terms. Study guide was given, but for the key terms, they gave us about 110, when only 5 will need to be answered on the test. The passages were not on the study guide and 8 essay prompts were given in he study guide, but only 3 will appear on the exam and you only have to answer one. Midterms are essays graded by GSI. Justin Boner is a really good gsi, gives great feedback and he's really chill.

Comment: Love this guy! He is generous with his paper assignments: lots of topics to choose from and clear instructions on how to answer prompt. He also takes an interest in his students and obviously cares. Only downside: Griffith has a quiet voice so it can be hard to pay attention at times.

Comment: This class (and instructor) was/were really difficult due to my background. It was crosslisted with TDPS 121. I did it essentially for the requirement. I'm glad they (Mark and my GSI) didn't totally fail me for my poor analytical writing skills but I did my best - the class was way over my head, the reading was hard to swallow. 2 papers and a final, I got a B which took A LOT out of me but Mark is a really great guy just not my cup of coconut juice.
