Comment: Flash is a great professor who really cares about her students. She will spend so much time with you in office hours if you attend regularly. However, you will not do well if you don't go to her office hours. There is a lot of writing that needs to be done and it can be really hard but, you will get use to it. I suggest not taking to hard of classes with this one.

Comment: All the other reviews describe the class perfectly except for a few notes...understand that 1/4 of this class is usually filled with people who will work to improve while the other 3/4 could care less. Unfortunately, I have yet to come across an writing instructor who does not grade subjectively. A lot of people in the class have lackluster writing compared to students who have taken the AP's--sadly, they're all dished out the same grades. Something is clearly wrong with the grading here.

Comment: Prof. Donette is very enthusiastic, her assignments (essay, logs, etc) are pretty manageable, especially for a 6 unit class.

Comment: Professor Flash was terrific...if you worked like crazy. She was extremely helpful in office hours, and very caring about your other subjects and work. She understood if you had to miss class for some unforeseen circumstance, and she would give you extensions on your papers if you actually needed them. That being said, she HATED you if you didn't come to class, didn't go to office hours, and/or didn't participate in class. For the perfect student, she is the perfect teacher. For the lazy student, well...find another professor. Flash is VERY picky about the writing and will dish out Cs and low Bs with ease. Nice thing is, she allows you to rewrite your essay as many times as you need to improve your grade. Getting an A is tough, but she will help you do it. I wouldn't recommend taking this class if you have more than 8 other units. It takes a lot of time, and a huge amount of effort with Flash - but the rewards are excellent.

Comment: She lacks enthusiasm and talks in a very monotonous tone. I would not recommend taking this course with this professor.

Comment: Donnett was one of an unforgettable teacher. She is very funny sometimes, but very hard at grading. She will make you write and write! Her class focuses on a lot about race and justice. Like we had to write essay on lying, MLK, Socrates, and on A Tortilla Curtain. Overall, I really like her class and people in that class. I got a B+, but I mean the highest grade she gave out was an A-, to only 1 student. So I don't feel bad

Comment: Class often was pretty unstructured and we wasted a lot of time when people successfully fooled Flash into believing they had done the readings when they hadn't.
