Comment: Very passionate about the subject; always open to opinions. Easy and relaxing class; although the work (reading) did seem ridiculous for only 3 units, but overall not too bad. A good class to take and fulfill breadth with; i definitely recommend it!

Comment: Awesome professor, wonderful voice when she sings in class to demonstrate. Very relaxed class with little work, but can have a lot of reading at times. The class is mainly based upon participation and musical knowledge is far from required. One of the best seminars to take for 3 credit and a AC requirement!

Comment: Absolutely wonderful class! You meet so many laid back people in the class, you sing, have fun, and Candace is just simply wonderful. The positive energy she brings to each and every session is empowering and consistent. She really does teach you a lot about singing stylistically and technically, and grades you based on your effort in incorporating her advice to achieve the "free voice." I recommend this class to anybody who is looking for a fun class to take. But be warned that you need to pass auditions to stay in the class (to pass, pretty much just don't be tone deaf).

Comment: Very low stress class & super awesome! Johnson is extremely supportive, amazingly talented, and a superb instructor. You're graded on personal progress, so the grading is pretty easy (you'll get an A if you put in the effort). The class will definitely get you more comfortable with using your voice musically. The only bad thing is she decided to over enroll this semester, so it was very hard to get the kind of individual attention you needed and the schedule was always hectic. The class won't put you up on Broadway or anything but it's great to break the shells of new singers who are intimidated to perform in front of people and also to give more experienced singers a chance to exercise their talents alike.

Comment: Definitely a fun class. I expected more vocal technique, while the class ended up involving a lot of acting/performance; but don't let that discourage you. Professor Johnson was so encouraging and helpful, and the people taking the class were almost all really fun people to be around. The class fills up really quickly, so if you have a good Telebears, make sure you sign up!

Comment: An interesting and enlightening class with a very encouraging professor. You don't need extensive musical experience to take this class, but having some will definitely help. Most people are shy about singing in front of everyone else at the beginning, but Professor Johnson really helps to break the ice in making everyone feel comfortable about themselves and their own voices. Definitely a highly recommended class.
