Comment: I loved Ms.Gold she was so nice and chill about everything. A lot of small assignments but in my opinion she was a fairly lenient grader so I just put in the work and ended up with a good grade

Comment: Was all take home exams (midterm and final) so that was like Auto-A's The only tricky thing is that you have to do the homeworks and go to a couple of shows and write reviews. All in all, it was a pretty easy A and you do learn a lot (whether you use it will be a mystery)

Comment: Really enjoyable class. There's a lab component which convinced me to take Music 140 (Javanese Gamelan); twas probably my favorite part of class. She's very passionate about the subject and has even lived in Bali so she definitely knows her stuff (watch her play music, esp Balinese Gamelan, it's AMAZING). Gold is also incredibly nice and patient (letting us turn in homework assignments late...). Tests are all take-home. A few group projects, which weren't too bad. Assignments do require a fair amount of reading but most are pretty interesting (and she gives you a reading guide/worksheet so you can, uh, skip around to the more important bits). Lecture-wise ... I fell asleep in her class quite a few times but she posts lecture notes online. Try staying awake for the movies / videos; those show up on the tests. There's also a lot of interesting demos (we had a Balinese dancer come in and give us a demo / teach us how to dance; it's really hard...).

Comment: Gold is one of the most enthusiastic professors I've had the pleasure of knowing. Not only that, but she's completely unpretentious and very receptive to student inputs. Her reactions to some of the student projects (which were enjoyable to do and watch) was almost heart warming. She is the kind of professor that made me *joyful* during some of the classes, validating my decision to learn whatever it is I set out to learn. Having said that, there are some knocks against her. For one, the assignments are slightly haphazardly organized. While they are insightful and augment the learning during lectures, they are just not regulated well. However, she is completely open to late work being turned it, at times without reductions. She's completely understanding. So overall, I highly recommend her.
