Comment: While 104 goes over some pretty difficult concepts, it is very easy to do well in the course. First off, the material covered differs from the catalog description: the first half is continuum mechanics, and the second half is mostly methods for solving differential equations. There is only one in-class midterm; there are about 10 homework assignments and a take home final, too. Pride is very enthusiastic about helping you understand the material. All the course content is in his notes, so there is really no need to get the recommended book. In my opinion, Pride is an awesome professor, and 104 is a much better alternative to Math 121A. It not only covers all the math from 121A, but also goes over continuum mechanics; it's like two classes in one. It's also better for your GPA, and an awesome math methods for physics class.
