Comment: Chill. Class always involves singing of some sort after he introduces it, but you'll only be graded on your sight-singing maybe once a week -- he calls on a few people most days in no particular order. The material consisted of a theoretical portion (reading music, rhythm, harmony, and the like) and a practical portion (sight-singing). Before going into the class, I was pretty solid on the theoretical stuff, but terrible at sight-singing, and it really helped with the latter. Amadeus also seemed pretty helpful regarding the theoretical portion as well. Written assignments and exams were mostly straightforward applications of the theory.

Comment: Amadeus is a chill and funny guy. If you need help, you can just go to his office hours. The class was a good for learning how to sight-sing, and the exams were fair.

Comment: The teacher- Amadeus started off as a bit of a jerk, and I think he did treat the students who he thought didn't try with a bit of a jerkish attitude. He turned out to be a pretty chill teacher when it came to theory material and exams ( he told us what he was going to test us on so the tests were really straight forward) and the reading was pretty light (one 10 page chapter a week). On the other hand, he was pretty demanding when it came to singing and only gave good grades to people who could perform very well. He wasn't absolute though and took your semester progress into account when assigning final grades which i think ended up being pretty fair. This class is great for teaching noobs about basic musical theory (which is why I signed up for the class). What I didn't know was that this class is based heavily on how well you can sing. A large part of your grade is based on your ability to stand in front of the class and perform small exercises that showcase your control of pitch and rhythm. You'll get over your stage fright after the first couple of weeks after everyone realizes "It's ok, I'm not the only one who can't sing at all".

Comment: I can't say bad things who had a relaxed attitude and keeping us assured that learning music shouldn't be a stressful experience. He wasn't the best lecturer and was bit harsh grading the assignments. However, he somehow manipulated the grading and I somehow ended up with +100% in the class (average of B in h/w after hours of trying, 80% on final exam and project, what..) which is nothing to complain about.

Comment: Seems disorganized; the class is somewhat a drag. The class seems to consist of a few pointers and then examples for the rest of the time.
