Comment: She did not talk much in class but her office hour was helpful.

Comment: She helps you improve as a writer, but she is a very hard greater and can be a little mean at times. She is very helpful and gives you attention, but can scare you at times. If you looking for an easy A don't take her b/c she wont even negotiate or talk about grades.

Comment: Being a 6 unit course means that this class is pretty intensive. Don't take that lightly because it requires constant editing of your essays and assignments which is the basis of your grade. Sokolik was a very harsh grader but allows you to resubmit your essays which is 40% of your grade.

Comment: Sokolik is an amazing professor. She is very helpful and enthusiastic and pretty fair with grades. However, she runs this class at a very fast pace. The essays come one right after another with reading and 1-2 page writing assignments in between. As for the class, remember that it is a 6 unit course. Expect a lot of work, but know that all of it is going to be beneficial to you as a writer in the long run.

Comment: Sokolik is a great professor but some of the assignments were tedious. While she is helpful, she tends to be a harsh and specific grader.

Comment: Her grading is biased. It's hard to gauge how well you will do on papers, which is the main portion of the grade. Office hours. Office Hours and Office Hours. That will help you survive. Note*: with bad grading comes many rewrites.be prepared to look at a paper multiple times before getting your finalized grade.

Comment: HELLA easy class. Like middle school level grading wise. Material was at times very interesting (debates about race in society and stuff). Student led discussions everyday based on readings. Homework was easy and sometimes interesting. This class requires reading and some reflective writing, nothing hard.

Comment: Prof Sokolik is very kind and would answer almost any question you have. She also tries to have totally optional more informal discussion sessions for people interested in sharing and listening about the subject. Her assignments are very manageable and she marks with a rather low standard. Great AC course!

Comment: College Writing 108 was a very fun class, with Professor Sokolik teaching it again for the first time in many years. Grading was based on three major assignments: a series of blog posts about media, a documentary video project, and a final project that was open ended but needed to pertain to the class. Prof. Sokolik was very enthusiastic and was open to ideas and adjustments in the schedule as the class progressed. Overall, it was a very interesting class and something worth taking.

Comment: Very chill and relaxed group of people. Although they tried to point out some useful things for incoming freshman, it didn't do much. All I really gained from the class was gossip about different engineering courses
