Comment: He barely teaches; instead there are so many guest lecturers with interesting topics. It broadens perception of our impact on the environment. The class isn't easy, but manageable.

Comment: So, as you've probably read by now, the course was taught by him, O'Reilly, and several other guest lecturers. Although everybody here seems to be in love with Kondolf, for some reason I found him a bit annoying (maybe it was because I found him a slightly arrogant, and I wasn't too interested in the topics he spoke on). Aside from that though, the class's exams and labs are generally easy and straightforward (answers to labs can be explicitly found in readings; exams consists of a multiple choice, short answer, and essay section. Most questions are easy, though grading can sometimes be very nit-picky - i.e. distinguishing between "fault creep motion" and "creeping motion of the fault." I'm still bitter about that one) The class is curved to an 85% mean though, so getting an A wasn't too difficult.

Comment: He is an amazing lecturer and very fun to listen to. However, he was hardly ever there because he wasn't really in berkeley this semester and so the class was very disjointed and taught by claire, who is a terrible instructor.

Comment: I enjoy every single time this man lectures, even if it's on a subject that I'm not particularly interested in. He has a good amount of enthusiasm, doesn't read directly about powerpoint slides, and knows so much about what he's talking about. I hope everyone gets a chance to hear this man give a lecture.

Comment: This class isn't exactly taught by any one professor because there are guest lectureres nearly every week talking about a new topic. However, Kondolf is the professor that gives the most lectures through teh whole semester (somewhere from 3-5), and he's enthusiastic about the material he's talking about as well as lightening up the early 9oclock atmosphere.

Comment: Kondolf taught it with Berry that semester, but Kondolf was definitely the more interesting lecturer. Be sure to go to every lecture since it will show up on the test. And make sure to fill out the study guides given for the midterms and final because the information will definitely be on the test.

Comment: Lab sections are taught by the GSIs (of course). Two labs due every week (one post lab from the previous week and a pre lab for that week). There is a lot of reading for the labs, but since the answers are mostly explicitly stated, you can just skim through it. Content wise, they're not difficult, but only moderately interesting, and you will have to be in Strawberry Creek.

Comment: GSIs are the real professors of this field lab. Depending on who you get, you may or may not have a good time. Josh Pollak was great.

Comment: Never went to lecture, got an A. Lectures weren't very engaging. Material was straightforward and slides were posted online.

Comment: Has a very soothing voice to set you to sleep in class. His slides are sometimes unclear as they are usually 70% pictures. The class is okay in general, not that hard but not that easy either. Lots of field trips, which is fun, but the post-labs can get tiring.

Comment: Awesome Professor, he really knows his stuff. The class is laid back and the labs are easy too. The tests are totally reasonable if you show up to lecture. You get to learn cool stuff, great for bio breadth.

Comment: This seminar is a joke....you basically watch movies, have less than engaging discussions, and one paper to write at the end of the semester. it's p/np so...don't feel pressured to try too hard. Anyway, the professor is a friendly guy who brings you tea and snacks sometimes.
