Comment: When he taught the IEOR module for E10 he really didn't seem to care that much about the material. He would just tell anecdotes about how he was involved in every industry and his contributions to the field. It's still interesting and a lot less work than the other modules. He also gave us the exam questions ahead of time.

Comment: Prof. Schruben taught the IEOR module for E10. He didn't seem too interested in teaching the course, but still gave interesting lectures about the basics of the major and his experiences in IEOR. Very few assignments and not too much work. Make sure you go to lectures because he sometimes takes attendance. Gave out the questions to the final exam early.

Comment: Schruben is the one who probably got me to start thinking about taking IEOR into an actual career. He will teach you information along with giving an insight into what he does for a living. Definitely a good module to take for E10.

Comment: He "taught" this course by pretty much putting a PowerPoint slideshow on bSpace and talking about random stories during class, which was much more interesting than the material that most of the people taking this course will probably never use again. It can be hard to follow what's going on in the course, but the GSIs are usually pretty helpful and walk you through what you need to know in lab.

Comment: The final "product" for this class is absolutely brutal and will consume the second half of your semester. It's a really useful course that I've been told by alums will really help IEORs in the future. Prof. Schruben has a quite interesting style of teaching, but has a reader with lecture slides that helps to follow along in. Exams are fairly straight forward and Schruben makes an effort to make sure the exams are fair for everyone. Worthwhile class, but a decent amount of work in the latter half.

Comment: Worthless class where the prof kept talking over and over again about the same (outdated) stuff that he claimed could "sell" immediately after taking the course. No organization or structure to speak of at all (he would put it "non-linear thinking" though, just as a lot of his other crappy B.S. that he would tell). Explicitly tells you the stuff would be tested on during the midterm but never gives a clear, much less thorough explanation of what he's talking about. GSI's helped a little but lack any organization or teaching experience. This is what you get in a public university where prof don't give a XXXX about teaching.

Comment: Not an easy class, but you learn a lot about simulation--worth taking.

Comment: Schruben never showed up once. Left all the teaching to grad students.
