Hello Rotaractors!

I. WHY JOIN ROTARACT?

Rotaract is an international service club for individuals between the ages of 18-30. As one of Rotary International’s official youth programs, members of Rotaract clubs (known as Rotaractors), are part of the world’s largest service organization. Rotaractors perform service both locally and internationally, changing the world one person at a time!

For those of you who are still unsure about joining Cal Rotaract, here are some key points to remember as to why we’re different from every other community service club out there!

Strong repertoire of international service!
Rotarian support and professional development through networking, event planning, and more!
Direct participation through our committees.
Member rewards and online service hour tracking!

II. How to Join a Family

If you missed Family Night and would still like to participate in our family system, please email rotaractfamily@gmail.com!

4) Top 3 Family Preferences
If you guys would like to be placed in a family with a friend, let us know and we will do our best!

National Committee Movie Night
Wed. Oct 19 | 7:00PM – 9:00PM | 175 Barrows
To raise money for the Breast Cancer Walk this weekend, National Committee will be showing A Walk to Remember, for a suggested donation of $3. There will be free popcorn!

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk
Sat. Oct 22 | 7:00AM – 11:00AM | Speedway Meadow at Golden Gate Park (Meet at Downtown Berkeley BART)
Help Cal Rotaract fight against breast cancer by joining us in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5-mile walk around San Francisco. Registration is free, but please stop by the Rotaract table this week to donate your spare change to our coin jar! The event starts at 8:00am, and we will be meeting at the Downtown Berkeley BART at 6:30AM to head over together.

Ultimate Frisbee Family Tournament & Spaghetti Feed
Sun. Oct 23 | 10:00AM – 2:00PM | Memorial Glade
Come join us for the first Family Tournament of the semester – the Ultimate Frisbee Challenge! Afterwards, the International Committee will be serving a picnic style meal to share with your family, with all proceeds going to Vitamin Angels. For your contribution of $7, you will get a delicious spaghetti meal with fresh veggies, garlic bread, salad, fruit, and refreshments.

Be the Match Bone Marrow Drive
Wed. Oct 26 | 10:00AM – 6:00PM | Sproul Plaza & Tan Oak Room (MLK)
Thousands of patients hope for a bone marrow donor who can make their life-saving transplant possible. They depend on people like you. You have the power to save a life! Take the first step today and come out and register. Free movie showing at 6pm in the Tan Oak Room in MLK for everyone who registers!

Local Committee Improv Night

Come out to Local Committee’s second ever Improv Night! Get ready to play crazy improv games like party quirks and line charades with all your friends, and to compete for some awesome prizes! There’s going to be food, laughter, and a ton of fun! Please bring supplies to donate to the Berkeley Food and Housing project (list of accepted items TBA).

Entrepreneurship Workshop
Wed. Nov 2 | 7:00PM – 8:30PM | Location TBA
Entrepreneurship 101. Get all the secrets on how to successfully start your own business and self-manage your career. Learn how to grasp your ideas as opportunities and branch out into something larger and beyond than yourself. Currently featuring Rotarians who have headed high tech start ups, banking/financing firms, photography firms, contract research, economic/management consulting, and manufacturing!

IV. **NEW** Rotary-Rotaract Mentorship Program

Apply now for a Rotarian mentor! You will get the chance for one on one mentoring, career planning, life wisdom, and other professional development opportunities per your own individual interests! Applicants will receive more information accordingly. Fill out the attached application and turn it in to any of the Rotaract officers or to the Rotaract Table on Sproul Mon-Thurs from 10AM – 1PM. If you have a specific field you are interested in, please let us know and we will do our to match you to an appropriate mentor!

VI. Joining the Club/Club Fees

Our membership fees are:
– $25 for a year (T-shirt included!)
– $15 for a semester (T-shirt NOT included)

Please fill out a new membership application which will also be available at our table on Sproul Plaza. Please turn it in to us either at our general meetings or at our table (Mon-Wed, 10AM – 2PM; Thurs 10AM – 1PM) with your dues.

**For those of you who have paid dues, our NEW T-shirts will be available for pickup at the Family Tournament & Spaghetti Feed this Sunday, as well as our Next General Meeting!**
