Hello from Cal Rotaract!

We’re back for yet another semester of service! We know you’re all excited to do some service. But first, we would like to invite you to come to some of our Welcome Week events! Our First General Meeting is on Tuesday in 30 Wheeler at 7 PM. More events will be listed below. We look forward to seeing you!

If you are new to our newsletters, welcome! The Cal Rotaract newsletter is a biweekly publication that contains important information on upcoming service events, socials, and other Rotaract news!


Membership | Interested in becoming a member, but not sure where to start? Have no fear! In order to become a member, you must fill out our online membership application

and turn in your membership payment dues to us either at our table on Sproul or through our official Venmo account @CalRotaract. We have two packages to choose from: $15 for one semester, or $25 for two semesters. If you pay for the two semester package, you will receive a free Cal Rotaract T-shirt!

Internships | Cal Rotaract is hiring new interns! If you want to learn more about how we operate behind the scenes, apply for our available intern positions! We are currently accepting internship applications for our Historian! If you’re interested in taking pictures and/or filming, check out our Historian intern application here

2/2: First General Meeting

Not sure what Cal Rotaract does for the community? Come to our first GM to meet fellow community service enthusiasts, grab some free food, and learn more about what it means to be part of Cal Rotaract. This is a fantastic opportunity to see what Cal Rotaract is and what impact we can make together in our local and global community!

2/3: Committee Night

Are you interested in becoming more involved in Rotaract? Do you want to do more than just participate in community service events? Come to Committee Night to learn about our four committees and what they plan to achieve for this semester! Our committees plan service events and foster personal development , which is why they are such an essential part of Rotaract. If you are passionate about going above and beyond as a Rotaract member, consider joining a committee!

2/5: Family Night

Are you ready for a blast from the past?? Be sure to come out to Family Night and relive your favorite childhood TV shows with us! The families for the Spring 2016 semester will be revealed and each of them will have a fun activity planned for you all. At the end of the night, you will rank the families you would like to be a part of on our Google form. Don’t miss out!

2/5: ShareTea Fundraiser
ShareTea | All-day | FB Event

If you’re craving some boba, go to ShareTea this Friday to support Cal Rotaract’s fundraiser! Present our flyer or mention Rotaract when purchasing your drink and ShareTea will donate 15% of the proceeds to our club. Your support will help us develop our club to best satisfy your service needs and passions! Bring your friends!

2/5: Gardening and Crafting with Seniors
Sacramento Senior Homes 1501 Blake St. | 8:00AM2:00PM | FB Event

Get excited for Cal Rotaract’s first service project of the Spring 2016 semester! We will be beautify-ing community gardens at the Sacramento Senior Homes! For those who are not comfortable with getting down and dirty, there will be a separate activity for you. You will be keeping the residents company and doing arts and crafts with them! Lunch will be provided and we can switch off shifts!
The residents of the Sacramento Senior Homes are hosted by the Satellite Affordable Housing Associates (SAHA) of Berkeley and are residents who are seniors and some adults 55+ years who are living with disabilities.
 

2/8: International Committee Meeting #1

Our International Committee is one of the four committees offered by Rotaract! If you are passionate about international service projects and plan to be more involved in Rotaract, come to International Committee’s first meeting!

2/10: Local Committee Meeting #1
TBD | 7:00 – 8:00 PM
Our Local Committee is one of the four committees offered by Rotaract! If you are passionate about local service projects and plan to be more involved in Rotaract, come to Local Committee’s second meeting!

2/13: Rebuilding Together Oakland
1524 Russell St. | 9:00AM – 12:00 PM
Rebuilding Together is a national US non-profit organization that works to help low-income homeowners preserve affordable homeownership and revitalize neighborhoods. We will be working with this organization to refurbish and declutter an individual’s home!
