Hello from Cal Rotaract!

Cheers to the end of the semester! In order to help our service scouts relieve some stress, we have a few more fun activities left for the last few weeks! Make sure you come to our Final General Meeting on Tuesday, April 12th in 258 Dwinelle at 7pm to learn about the upcoming events!

Surveys | We are constantly trying to improve our organization so that we can provide the best for our members! Fill out our surveys so that we know what worked for you and what didn’t. Surveys are posted shortly after the event on the Facebook event page. For each survey you fill out you get 30 membership points, so make sure you fill them out! Banquet Performances | Do you have a talent that you want to share with your fellow service scouts? Here’s the perfect opportunity for you: come and perform at Cal Rotaract’s semi-annual banquet, a wonderful night of celebration, love, and great company! E-mail our Fellowship chairs about how you can apply for our talent performances! If you have any questions or want to perform, e-mail Sam and Stanley at fellowship@calrotaract.org!


4/11: International Committee Meeting #5: Stories from Refugees
TBD | 7-8pm | FB Event

Cal Rotaract invites you to attend “Stories from Refugees”, an informative presentation on the Syrian Refugee Crisis featuring two guest speakers: Mary Dahdouh, a graduate student of International Law, and Nardeen Dawood, an undergraduate student studying Molecular and Cell Biology. They will be sharing their experiences from their recent relief projects assisting displaced Syrians in Lebanon and the Idomeni Refugee Camp.
This meeting is part of Cal Rotaract’s Syrian Refugee Awareness Week, April 11-15th 2016.

4/12: Final General Meeting: Keep Calm & Sail On

Join us at our last GM in welcoming our Rotarian guest speaker, Shawn Rowles, a multiple Paul Harris fellow, Major Donor to the Rotary Foundation, and Past President of the Tahoe Douglas Rotary Club AND Mary Dahdouh, an International Law graudate student who participted in recent relief projects assisting displaced Syrians in Lebanon and the Idomeni Refugee Camp (Greece).
In addition to our special guests, come find out what future hands-on service opportunities await you for April!

4/13: Rotary Committee Meeting #5

Come to Rotary Committee’s fifth meeting to immerse yourself into the true planning process for Ignitus! Ignitus is a TED-talk inspired event in which speakers who have combined professionalism with service speak of their accomplishments. Ignitus is only one week away, and we need all the help we can get! Hone your marketing and networking skills by participating in either our speaker subcommittee or marketing subcommittee. Meet amazing people, and learn the many efforts behind an event such as Ignitus!

4/15: Ignitus
103 Moffitt | 6.30-9pm | FB Event

Ignitus is a TED-talk inspired event where speakers talk about the intersection between their professional lives and community service. Through these speaker’s presentations, students are given the opportunity to hear from people who have given back to their community through their professional and service passions. Speakers in the past have ranged from college students to professors to industry experts with fields ranging from computer science to social welfare. This event is about showcasing service as a lifestyle, hopefully inspiring students to follow Rotary’s slogan “Service Above Self.”

4/18: International Committee Meeting #6

Our International Committee is one of the four committees offered by Rotaract! If you are passionate about international service projects and plan to be more involved in Rotaract, come to International Committee’s sixth meeting!

4/20:Local Committee Meeting #5

Our Local Committee is one of the four committees offered by Rotaract! If you are passionate about local service projects and plan to be more involved in Rotaract, come to Local Committee’s fifth meeting!

4/23-4/24: Interact Stayover
UC Berkeley Campus | Saturday 9:00amSunday 1:30pm
The wait is almost over for Interact Committee’s event of the semester: Interact Stayover! Get excited because we will be hosting local Interact clubs and teaching them about college life and community service after high school! If you still want to be involved, you can sign up to be a volunteer here
