Charlie Hough was one of my 2 favorite players (Jim Sundberg was the other) so you can imagine my thrill when the expansion Marlins signed him in December of 1992. I was at the first Marlins game and saw Charlie strikeout the first 2 Dodgers he faced and then win the game. Then -- I found out the lady in the cubicle next to my wife at her job was CHARLIE'S SISTER-IN-LAW (his wife's sister)! (Charlie and his wife are originally from nearby Hialeah, FL.)I instantly acquired a number of pieces of memorabilia, including a picture of Charlie throwing the first Marlins pitch which he personally autographed to me. Unfortunately, I never got to talk to him personally before he returned to California. BTW, I was curious -- are you related to him? |

I have a 3 year old daughter who has them all (including the newly released #5) memorized. She watches one every night before she goes to bed. She now identifies all dinosaurs by calling them Littlefoot or Cera, etc. I guess my daughter could be a bigger fan than me when it comes to "The Land Before Time" but she doesn't come close when it comes to "Jurassic Park" or "Jurassic Park: The Lost World" I watch those movies in total amazement at how real the dinosaurs look. |
