A "Hello world" program is a program that outputs the string "Hello, world!" or a similar expression onto a certain display, such as the terminal window. This program is simple, yet highlights some of the important features of a programming language, such as its data types and output functionality. This program is therefore commonly used as the first program to demonstrate a programming language to a beginner. This program can also be used to check that a certain program is installed and functioning correctly.

Example

In Python:

print("Hello, world!")
