A planetary nebula in its final stages of stellar evolution. The outer layers of gas are ejected in elegant rings while the curious eye-like core cools to a white dwarf. In this image, taken by the Hubble Space Telescope, red, green, and blue are mapped to nitrogen, hydrogen, and oxygen, respectively. Nebula MyCn18 is often noted for its resemblance to an hourglass.
