There is an earlier thread about it, but it's a few years old and the search engine default to at most a year back. But luckily the math hasn't changed too much

There are a lot of riddles of that kind, they're more jokes than puzzles, I think. Instead of an 'aha erlebness' they evoke a *lol*-erlebnis

What about, if the mother-child difference is 15 years, and after 4 years it becomes 4 times the age. Then where should the father be?

| hidden: | -In school (if he's similarly young as the mother) -In jail (if old enough, and accused of statutory rape [note: age of consent is much more liberal in certain countries other than the US] ) -At work to provide for his family during working hours, and at home to spend time with them much of the rest of the time |

if you calculate out the values, you'll get -3/4 years, which translates to -9 months. In other words, the baby is being made right now. Thus, unless artificial insemination is being used... well, hopefully you can figure out the rest.

ah, but then you have to take into consideration at what time is the baby considered as a "being". some people say that it is after fertilisation of the egg, while others say after a defined period of time (e.g. 28 days), while others still say that it is only after the primal streak has formed.

In this case, that definition is implicit in the question, since the question asserts that the child exists 9 months prior to its birth.

The riddle could state: In one year from now the mother will be 21 years older than the child. In 6 years from now, the mother will be 5 times as old as the child. Where is the father?
