Can't say I've given it any thought. If I'm going to play videogames I'd prefer my PC anyway. So the whole console wars going on is mostly going right past me.

The PS3 finally found a game I was willing to buy for it a couple of months ago. For that brief period, I was up to date on consoles.

I've had a 360 for a few years because a friend ditched his after it went RROD on him, and let me keep it after I managed to revive it.

Nintendo consoles tend to be the ones I buy fairly new.

I've been on a Professor Layton kick lately - 6 games and 1 movie later, I'm near the beginning of the crossover with Ace Attorney.

If you've not encountered Professor Layton, they're the videogame equivalent of the old Usborne Puzzle Adventure series of books - a moderate story used as an excuse to keep throwing puzzles at the player, sometimes even related to the plot. Some of the puzzles are classics - the second game has a series of towers of Hanoi puzzles, a series of chessboard queen placement puzzles and a series of peg solitaire puzzles - and others are more original. The plot gets a bit Scooby Doo in places (each of the six games has at least one scene where someone removes a rubber mask to reveal their true identity) and the portions of the games set in London really, really aren't (they tend to make Dan Brown's geography look good), but the puzzles are generally excellent, and, provided you don't expect too much of it, the plots and locations are fine.
