Arrow End of February

2003/02/28

Wow... It's already the end of February.
In a blink of an eye, 2 months have passed...
In these 2 months, a lot of things have changed for me.
But whatever my circumstances, I want to keep going along my path as "Okui Masami". Those hiragana include the meanings of both the kanji and the romaji. [1]
Yeah. Let's keep doing our best.

[1] The original has the syllables "o-ku-i-ma-sa-mi" written entirely in hiragana. I'm not quite sure what she means here, but her name written in kanji could symbolize her own name and identity as an ordinary person, and the name written in romaji (romanized words, ie. "okui, masami") could symbolize her identity as a singer.

An Important Announcement

2003/02/25

about Birth Live is here.
Clicking on the Birth Live link on the front page (the one with the big black logo) will bring up the Birth Live setup page. If you click on the rightmost link labeled "enjoy yourself", an explanatory text will come up about what will be happening at the live event on March 9. On the day of the concert, there will be fliers passed out, too, but just to be safe, please be sure to check the details here.
Since it will be very busy and confusing that day, there will probably be some people who will be walking around asking, "Where's the Box!?!?" But so that no one asks instead, "Box? What's a Box?"...
In other words, so that no one becomes inconvenienced by losing their flier...
Please check here!!!!

Arrow Starting Today

2003/02/24

The BBS at the Official Fan Club MaBIC is closed, with plans to re-open it at makusonia. It would be nice to link makusonia and MaBIC to each other, since right now they're very clearly separated. Of course, the exclusive fan club pages will still be online. Starting around the beginning of March, some changes will begin to take place. Let's look forward to it!

Preparations for Live Continue

2003/02/22

We're making progress.
The "goods" corner of the live concert page is now up!
Well! Since this year is the 10th anniversary, there will be a lot of limited release goods, and I think they're the fanciest ones we've ever had. There are some very nice posters, too, in which I look very defiant.
Also, everything is in black and pink contrast, which is my favorite.
The "Limited Release 091 Set" and "Limited Release 091 Items" [1] play on my name, "Okui". [2] It's also supposed to mean that there are only 91 of each item.
Please go check it out.

So, now...
This year's live concert will include several songs from the cover album being released on 5/1. Right now, I'm planning the performance of "Cutey Honey". For it, I won't be using a towel but rather the penlight (from the merchandise goods) in the dance, which I self-choreographed. I hope that I can dance with all my heart together with all of you.
Of course, though, I'll still be waving my towel.
Hm... I suppose explaining everything about the concert here will make the actual day very boring, but...

notes:
[1] These are used to describe the 2-poster set and the sports towels, respectively, being sold at the concert.
[2] This is a play on Makkun's family name "Okui", which sounds a lot like "0-9-1" in Japanese ("oh-kuu-i(chi)"). This also explains why the song "eternal promise" has a remix called "ver. 091"...

More Studio Recording

2003/02/21

I did some more singing today.
Well, today was a horebore day, wasn't it. [1]
I was surrounded by little girls with very cute voices, and I sang a little too much. My rough voice probably slipped a little here and there...
Well, it can't be helped.
In the studio, I sang "Truth", the very first ending song of "Revolutionary Girl Utena". It was very hard to sing, but I think it turned out really well. (praising myself)
There are a few songs left now.
With the CD release and live concert in front of me, I've got to start getting myself ready.

Also, I ate yakiniku today. [2]

notes:
[1] Horebore means "charming/memorable". Makkun writes it here in an unusual, silly way (with both hiragana and katakana).
[2] Yakiniku is a Japanese dish of fried/BBQ-ed meat.

Hot and Cold, Cold and Hot

2003/02/19

H--mph... There's been a big difference between hot and cold days recently, hasn't there... It was hot in the afternoon today, but when night came, it got reeeaally cold. Not to mention, the moment I woke up in the morning, I was attacked by pollen (T_T) [1]
There's a tea called "tencha" that's supposed to work against allergies, like "rose hips", and I bought it to drink.
But oh! It ended up having this strange sugary taste, so I gave up after a cup.
I've been buying a lot of stuff on the internet, a habit I should probably break......
I'm thinking of sprucing up my favorite corner little by little![2]

notes:
[1] "(T_T)" is a Japanese emoticon; it signifies a person crying.
[2] I think this is referring to her makusonia diary page.

Steadily Onwards

2003/02/18

Recording of the cover album is steadily progressing. At the same time, I did a demo of what songs to perform with Youko-chan for Anigemaster.[1] Actually, the demo actually involved my picking a song and having the other person listen to it... I eventually decided that having a cheery song would be best.
In a little bit, the track list for my cover album will appear on makusonia. By the way, I sang "Kyou mo Dokoka de DEBIRUMAN" today![2]

notes:
[1] Anigemaster is a radio program that broadcasts in Japan on Thursdays from 9-11pm. It's basically a news program that focuses on anime, games, and popular events, and it has an "anigemaster" (Anime & Game Master) every week. Our very own Masami Okui and "Youko-chan" (Youko Ishida, who sang Sailormoon's Otome no Policy, Ai Yori Aoshi's Towa no Hana, and many songs for the Parapara MAX CD series, etc.) were the anigemasters for the week of Feb. 8. Visit Anigemaster's website for some pics of Youko-san & Makkun.
[2] This is the title of one of Makkun's new songs. The translation is "The Devilman is Out There Even Today".
