Another three jugs problem

You have three jugs, 4 l, 5 l and 100 l, without any mark.

The 100 l jug is full of water

You have two guests, each will be served 2 l of water. How do you measure two 2 l of water accurately without any other jug or glass, etc.?

I can do this with only two pourings.

Well, I can get it in more, but here is my effort. Pour 5L from the 100L container into the 5L container. Then pour all the water that can fit into the 4L container. Pour this water out. Pour the remaining 1L into the 4L container. Pour another 5L from the 100L container into the 5L container. Then pour the 5L into the 4L container. This will give you 2L in the 5L container.

I'm stumped on how you get 2 pourings, but I'm sure I will find out soon enough.

For your best solution, do you assume the 4L and 5L jugs have the same diameter?

Really really sorry  Embarassed

The jugs must be right cylinders. The diameters are not necessarily the same.

Does filling a container with water from another source count as a pouring?

Note: If you want to make it accurate, you must be really careful when you pour the water.

After two pourings, will you have 2 containers each filled with 2 L, or do you mean 2 pourings for each guest?

Yes, after two pourings I will have 2 container each filled with 2L. And, of course, 1 container filled with 96 L.

1) Fill the 4l from the 100l; 2) pour from the 4l to the 5l until the 4l is half full, by the "glass half full" criterion.

[e]Looks like towr and I came to the same conclusion[/e]

Cheesy

(1)Fill the 4-L, (2) pour from the 4-L into the 5-L such that the waterline of the 4-L meets both the bottom and top perimeter of the circular bases.

EDIT: And of course I type way too slow...

Although you won't rank up very fast that way. Interesting question though. there are several solutions, since I can pour the 100 into the other containers and empty it for a while before using the actual method.
