Perhaps he was waiting for the light to turn green. Some traffic lights are equipped with cameras that will automatically take a picture when someone runs a red light. If the driver is killed, the car would roll through the light and the deed is caught on camera. Just as the light turns green, you could shoot and get out of the car while it's still moving slowly.

Is it a busy junction, and another car is likely to turn up, even though none are in sight?
Or is it a toll booth, with someone in the box? Or a camera checking no-one cheats?
Or is it a railway crossing, and a trainful of witnesses will be going past any second?

Is the bit about 2 cars new? Or was it always there?
Anyway, has Angie planned to do the deed in one particular car, and this is not the right one?
So does she need to get to the house and then persuade them to drive back in the other car?
Does the car they are in have some impediment to a clear shot? Eg bulletproof glass separating front from rear like in a limo or a taxi ? Or is it like a pichup truck, and Fletch & wife are in cabin and Angie on the flat bed at back?
(Fletch & wife are sitting together in the same vehicle, right?)
